Sound like you have a refrigerant leak I suggest to take it to a pro because you need lots of tools and knowledge to properly fix it And don?t let people tell you than is just to add refrigerant because that is a common myth or miss conception, refrigerant don?t ware out or burn out if the system need refrigerant is because there is a leak some where.

My Whirlpool washer (GHW9400PTO) is on control lock. I remember one time before it did this and there some type of holding buttons for a certiant time and it unlocked the washer.

Press and hold the End of Cycle Signal button for three seconds. This will turn off the Control Lock feature.

Try turning the circuit breaker off for 30 minutes. Then turn back on and see. If it keeps locking you may need new control console. Hope this helps.

Most whirlpools you just hold lock button for a few seconds and it will return to normal function.

Control lock will not turn off

the far right set of buttons lowest one, if you looked closely is marked "control lock" hold for 3 secs, the control light will go off
