Timming a 1997 chevy and finding the wire to unplug

these are usually located on the firewall on the passenger side under a cover that looks like the letter T.remove the cover and look for a tan with a black stripe wire,this is the wire that needs to be disconnected with the car running you should hear a difference in the idle.set timing and reconnect wire then check to make sure check engine light is off.if not start motor disconnect wire,turn off motor and reconnect wire start motor and check the light it should be off.

Main alternator fuse for my '92 Toyota Paseo constantly blows out when I reconnect my red battery connection to red battery post. Why?

carefully disconnect the alternator completely, now reconnect the battery, now one by one reconnect the alternator carefully first the connector check is fuse is blown, now the big wire that charges the battery if the fuse blown when the alternator was disconnected, the problem is in the wires, an accident, a mice, a recent engine job.
The fuse blown when the terminals to alternator are connected the problem is the alternator.

What parts must be removed and in what order to enable replacement of the resistor in the blower fan,heater/ac??

remove the hush pannel from passanger side
disconnect the wiring connector for the blower motor (2 WIRE CONNECTOR)
remove the blower motor( not nessary but makes it easier)
now you can see the resistor disconnect the wiring connector
there is 2 bolts 5.5mm or SAE 7/32
remove the 2 bolts and remove the resistor
install the new resistor and reconnect the wiring connector
install the blower motor and reconnect the wire connector
install the hush pannel

I need a diagram to find my aluternator in my 1998 dodge strstus please.

2.0L DOHC Engine
See Figure 4
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the starter motor electrical connections.
  3. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts and remove the starter.

To install:
  1. Clean both surfaces of the starter motor flange and the rear plate. This is important since the starter grounds through its case and the transaxle flange to which it attached. Some remanufactured starters may have paint on these areas which should be cleaned off before installation. Install the starter motor onto the transaxle and secure with the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  2. Attach the electrical harness connectors to the starter.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable and check the starter for proper operation.

2.0L SOHC Engine With Manual Transaxle
See Figures 4 and 5
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the left strut tower. The ground cable is equipped with a insulator grommet which should be placed on the stud to prevent the negative battery cable from accidentally grounding.
  2. Remove the air cleaner resonator.
  3. Remove the positive battery cable retaining nut from the starter.
  4. Disconnect the positive battery cable and alternator output wire from the starter.
  5. Disconnect the push-on solenoid connector from the starter.
  6. Remove the 2 bolts that attach the starter to the transaxle.
  7. Remove the starter from the vehicle.

  1. Install the starter and the attaching bolts to the transaxle assembly.
  2. Tighten the attaching bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).

Clean all dirt and/or corrosion from the wire terminals before reconnecting the wiring to the solenoid.
  1. Reconnect the push-on solenoid connector to the starter.
  2. Reconnect the alternator output wire and positive battery cable to the starter and tighten the retaining nut to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  3. Install the air cleaner resonator.
  4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

2.0L SOHC Engine With Automatic Transaxle; 2.4L Engine
See Figures 4, 5 and 6
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the left strut tower. The ground cable is equipped with a insulator grommet which should be placed on the stud to prevent the negative battery cable from accidentally grounding.
  2. Remove the air cleaner resonator.
  3. Remove the 3 bolts attaching the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Do not disconnect the TCM wiring. Move the TCM to gain access to the upper starter mounting bolt.
  4. Remove the upper starter mounting bolt.
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  6. Remove the positive battery cable nut and disconnect the cable from the starter.
  7. Disconnect the push-on solenoid connector.
  8. Remove the lower mounting bolt that attaches the starter to the transaxle.
  9. Remove the starter from the vehicle.

  1. Install the starter onto the transaxle and the lower mounting bolt.
  2. Tighten the mounting bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
Before reconnecting the wiring to the starter solenoid, be sure to clean the wiring of any dirt or corrosion.
  1. Reconnect the positive battery cable to the solenoid post and tighten the retaining nut to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2. Reconnect the push-on solenoid connector.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Reinstall the upper attaching bolt and torque to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  5. Reinstall the TCM to its original location and install the mounting screws.
  6. Reinstall the air cleaner resonator.
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable

How do you take off a intake manifold

This is for the 4.6L motor...I'll post for the 5.0L and 5.8L....you didn't post your engine size so please pick the applicable motor:

4.6L Engine
CAUTION Fuel injection systems remain under pressure, even after the engine has been turned OFF. The fuel system pressure must be relieved before disconnecting any fuel lines. Failure to do so may result in fire and/or personal injury.

  1. If equipped with air suspension, the air suspension switch, located on the right-hand side of the luggage compartment, must be turned to the OFF position before raising the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4. Relieve the fuel system pressure as follows:
    1. Remove the fuel tank fill cap to relieve the pressure in the fuel tank.
    2. Remove the cap from the Schrader valve located on the fuel injection supply manifold.
    3. Attach Fuel Pressure Gauge T80L-9974-B or equivalent, to the Schrader valve and drain the fuel through the drain tube into a suitable container.
    4. After the fuel system pressure is relieved, remove the fuel pressure gauge and install the cap on the Schrader valve. Secure the fuel tank fill cap.
  5. Disconnect the fuel supply and return lines.
  6. Remove the windshield wiper governor (module).
  7. Remove the engine air cleaner outlet tube.
  8. Release the drive belt tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt.
  9. Tag and disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs. Disconnect the ignition wire brackets from the cylinder head cover studs.
  10. Disconnect the wiring from both ignition coils and the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. Tag and disconnect all ignition wires from both ignition coils. Remove 2 bolts retaining the ignition wire bracket to the ignition coil brackets and remove the ignition wire assembly.
  11. Disconnect the alternator wiring harness from the junction block at the fender apron and alternator. Remove the bolts retaining the alternator brace to the intake manifold and the alternator to the cylinder block and remove the alternator.
  12. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  13. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor and power steering control valve actuator wiring and position the wiring harness out of the way.
  14. Disconnect the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from the right-hand exhaust manifold.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Remove and detach the engine/transmission harness connector from the retaining bracket on the power brake booster.
  17. Detach the A/C compressor clutch, Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and the canister purge solenoid wiring connectors.
  18. Remove the PCV valve from the cylinder head cover and disconnect the canister purge vent hose from the PCV valve.
  19. Disconnect the accelerator and cruise control cables from the throttle body. Remove the accelerator cable bracket from the intake manifold and position out of the way.
  20. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the throttle body adapter port.
  21. Disconnect both Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) and the heater water hose.
  22. Remove 2 bolts retaining the thermostat housing to the intake manifold and position the upper hose and thermostat housing out of the way.
The 2 thermostat housing bolts are also used to retain the intake manifold.
  1. Remove 9 bolts retaining the intake manifold to the cylinder heads and remove the intake manifold. Remove and discard the gaskets.
  2. If replacing the intake manifold, swap over the necessary parts.
To install:
  1. Clean all gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Position new intake manifold gaskets on the cylinder heads. Make sure the alignment tabs on the gaskets are aligned with the holes in the cylinder heads.
  3. Install the intake manifold and 9 retaining bolts. Hand tighten the right-rear bolt (viewed from the front of the engine) before final tightening, then torque the bolts, in sequence, to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).
  4. Inspect and if necessary, replace the O-ring seal on the thermostat housing. Position the housing and upper hose and install 2 retaining bolts. Torque to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).
  5. Reconnect the heater water hose.
  6. Reconnect both HO2S wiring connectors.
  7. Reconnect the vacuum hose to the throttle body adapter vacuum port.
  8. Install the accelerator cable bracket on the intake manifold and connect the accelerator and cruise control cables to the throttle body.
  9. Install the PCV valve in the cylinder head cover and connect the canister purge solenoid vent hose. Reconnect the A/C compressor clutch, CKP sensor and canister purge solenoid wiring connectors.
  10. Reconnect the engine/transmission harness connector. Install the connector on the retaining bracket on the power brake booster.
  11. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  12. Reconnect the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to the right-hand exhaust manifold. Torque the tube nut to 26-33 ft. lbs. (35-45 Nm).
  13. Reconnect the power steering control valve actuator and the oil pressure sensor wiring connectors.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Position the alternator and install 2 retaining bolts. Torque to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm). Install 2 bolts retaining the alternator brace to the intake manifold and torque to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  16. Reconnect the alternator wiring harness to the alternator, right-hand fender apron and junction block.
  17. Position the ignition wire assembly on the engine and install 2 bolts retaining the ignition wire bracket to the ignition coil brackets. Torque the bolts to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  18. Reconnect the ignition wires to the ignition coils in their proper positions. Reconnect the ignition wires to the spark plugs.
  19. Reconnect the ignition wire brackets on the cylinder head cover studs. Reconnect the wiring connectors to both ignition coils and the CMP sensor.
  20. Install the accessory drive belt.
  21. Install the engine air cleaner outlet tube.
  22. Install the windshield wiper governor.
  23. Reconnect the fuel supply and return lines.
  24. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
  25. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  26. If equipped with air suspension, turn the air suspension switch to the ON position.
  27. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  28. Road test the vehicle and check for proper operation.

Keeps flashing PROTECT when switched on

Check all of your connections very carefully. If all seems well, disconnect one wire at a time, then power on after each wire is disconnected. Alternate between power off (remove a wire) then power on. If the PROTECT comes back on, reconnect the one wire and then power off. Disconnect the next wire, power on, and see if the PROTECT comes back on. If so, reconnect that wire and continue until all of your wires are checked. If at some point after disconnecting a wire and powering back up, the PROTECT does not appear, that wire you just disconnected is the culprit and needs to be replaced. Even a single strand of speaker wire crossing to another opposite polarity (speaker wire) or input can cause a fault making the receiver "PROTECT" itself. Although it may be tedious, it is effective to trouble shoot this way for the first step. If you want disconnect all wires from the receiver and then power on to see if it does it independently of any other connections. I hope this helps and good luck. Dryer stpped working

with power disconnected
if any wire disconnected before any test, reconnect & test dryer, reconnect wires after each test
disconnect wires from start button and test, conduct when pushed, no conduct when release
if fail replace start button test dryer
disconnect wires from door switch and test, conduct when pushed, no conduct when release
if fail replace door switch test dryer
follow leads from start button to relay(relay is first device connected to start button), and make sure all wires connected at both ends. If any wires disconnected, test dryer
locate thermostats and thermal fuses on fan housing and ducts
individually disconnect wires from each and test. conduct good, no conduct fail
replace any failed thermal fuse or thermostat test dryer
if all prior test OK
replace relay, test dryer
