Keep breaking needles when i put down presser foot to sew iwant to sew straight stich to hem a curtain

If the needle is hitting something, make sure you have the machine set for straight stitch and the needle is in the center position. If it is still hitting and breaking, then the machine is out of adjustment and needs to be repaired.

The needle has just started hitting something so wont go down, have tried 4 different needles

It is your hook (part of bobbin area) that is hitting your needle. You have a problem with the timing. More than likely you are in need of one or more gears that have worn out. This is a repair that your maintenance man will need to do.

I was sewing with my CG590 singer machine and then my needle broke. So I put in a new needle, and now it seems like it is hitting something when it goes down. What could this be and how do I fix it?

If the needle hit something (which is usually what happens when the needle breaks), it could very well have knocked the machine out of time. You can try installing another needle (make sure it is installed facing the correct direction) and see if that changes things. If it continues to hit something, you can search the internet for web sites and videos discussing "sewing machine timing" or take it for service.

My needle keeps hitting the metal plate, and its a brand new needle. It seems like the alignment of my brand new machine is off. Basically, the needle keeps hitting the metal plate where the bobbin is, and...

Check whether the needle is installed correctly - maybe it's turned around from machines you are used to. Also verify that the needle plate is installed correctly, not upside down (may be possible on some machines). If the needle and plate are installed correctly, then something is out of line, and you're owed a free adjustment or repair from the manufacturer.

I know how to attach my ruffler foot but my needle keeps hitting the plate .what do I need to adjust to keep the needle from hitting the foot

You may need to move the needle position left or right. Try a different stitch length. If the ruffler foot is installed correctly and needle is in the correct position this should not happen. It is hitting left/right/forward or back of the ruffler needle space?

My needle keeps breaking. So I unthreaded everything and cleaned the bobbin area. Per the manual i rethreaded everything but when i get to the part of turning the balance when toward me until the needle...

check to make sure the needle is inserted correctly--flat side to the back of the machine
that the needle is inserted all the way up in the needle shaft

check the needle clamp screw to make sure it's not loose

is the needle correct for the fabric that's being sewn

check to make sure the needle is not hitting the needle plate- if it's hitting the needle plate or the bobbin case then it's possible the machine is out of time & would have to be serviced because they have the proper tools to time it

5417 Mechanical Sewing Machine: ok when my needle goes down it seems to hit someth...

If the needle is not in all the way it will bottom out in the shuttle, or if you bought new needles and accedently got the wrong ones. If the needle does not enter the needle plate far enough to be bottoming out then the machine is out of time. You know i was about to hit post it and I realized I didn't think about, if the needle is bent it will hit the hook. so check those things hope it works out.

Singer 7442 Needle seems 2b 2 long.Hits something below

I strongly recommend you desist from using the sewing machine on a levis. It could be that the capacity is not for that thick material like levis.

I had similar problem till I had to take it in for repairs because mine was discovered to have had a shift in the footer below the needle compartment where the clothes are been laid before sewing.

Look closely at the footer.

Good luck dear.

I care so much.
