SOURCE: freezer defrosting then freezing again...any suggestions

I believe your defrost heater inside the back of the freezer compartment rear panel has burned out. Unplug remove the panel and get a look at the defrost heater. If burned out it will be easy to spot because yours has a glass tube around the heating element inside. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze
Here is a photo of your defrost heater part number WR51X10055
If you replace the defrost heater you should also replace the defrost thermostat part number WR50X10054
If you have more questions or need help feel free to let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

We have a GE 20.3 cu. ft. upright frost free freezer that keeps forming a layer of ice on the bottom, which we assume is happening when it is defrosting. How do we unclog the drain?

I let the ice box thaw out and use a shop vac to open the drain hole. You can find the end of the drain hose above the compressor drain pan.

All the sudden our ice maker stopped working, looks like the water line is frozen how do we fix this or should we call a repair expert?

I would bet it's not defrosting correctly and the only fix it is to defrost it manually. Most likely you have a pretty substantial ice buildup in the back of your freezer, this causes the air movement to be blocked feeding your normal refrigerator side. It then has caused the water line to freeze in the back of the refrigerator section.

This has happened on ours several times. You may have a computer module that has failed as well - so if defrosting it doesn't keep it from happening again, then you may have to have a repairman come out.

As for defrosting, I had to remove all the contents of the freezer, remove the back panels go get to the condensor and then get all the ice melted out of there and clean up all the water...Not rocket science, but also not easy to do in the back of the freezer. Just remember how it all comes apart and keep track of all the screws....

Frost free freezer keeps icing up.

steve, freezers only freeze up for a few reasons. one is too much of a refrigerant charge which isnt likely, or some type of air flow restriction from dirty coils or an improperly working fan. another is that a freezer by nature works below 32 degrees which require a defrost timer for the evaporator coil. if this coil freezes up or just builds up ice then the freezer wont work as designed and the timer has a factory setting that may be defrosting too far between times making the condesation problem compounded

Samsung RS253BAVQ freezer Keeps defrosting, and wont dump ice

One posibility is that it is not defrosting a all and that the ice is building up on the evaporator coil behind the rear cover inside the freezer. This condition will block the flow of cold air. Remove the back panel to see what your have. Either no ice , light frost, partial icing or heavy icing blocking the fins. Complete light frosting is normal.

Thin layer of ice on the floor of my whirlpool top mounted freeze

common issue.....sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

My Beaumark Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Doesn't Work

problem is probably that the evaporator is frozen up preventing circulation of air and the fan is jammed with ice.
remove the back panel inside the freezer. melt off the ice with a hairdryer taking care not to heat up any stats mounted on the pipework.
appliance will now work but this is a temporary repair. you must find out the cause of the ice build-up ie why not defrosting.
for starters, check the defrost heater and the thermal cut-out inseries with it.
let me know how you get on and what you find. make sure the fan is free to rotate.

Frigidaire side by side freezer- water which turns to ice is collecting at the bottom of the freezer - drain hole at the back / lower part of the freezer appears to get frozen - causing the water / ice...

this should not be happening as a heater in the freezer should eliminate this problem.first check the hose is completely clear,if it is when your fridge goes into defrost mode you should be able to feel warmth near this drain or hear the ice crackling and defrosting thence draining via the rear tube also try removing the offending ice in the drain with hot water

Magtag french door with water and ice despenser door with auto defrost keeps freezing up.

You have a defrost system problem related to the timing device, heaters, or defrost thermostat. Coils for the freezer are inside the back wall and defrosting the surface does not get ice out of coils.
it will not get any better until you have it serviced. This is not normally a project for a do-it your selfer.
