Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FFHB2740PS4, has a Freon and oil leak. Typically, this is not a do it yourself job, as there are no step by step instruction manuals. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They have been trained on your appliance and should be able to fix the Freon and oil leak with ease. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

How do I know if my fridge uses thefreon with the oil

most fridges are a sealed system from the factory, and are not able to be serviced. Generally most compressors require pag oil with freon. The freon in the transportation industry is R-134A with R-12 in older vehicles. Household have R-44 and R-22 in older appliances. There are a few different types of pag oil for each application.

Fridge and freezer both stopped working.Lights still on.

check lines for leaks, check all components. If the compressors kicks on then check lines if the compressor doesn't then that's a potential problem as well. If everything; lines, compressor and expansion canister are looking good then your out of freon, it is the gas that is used to transfer heat from the compartments to outside. Having no freon further tells you that you have a leak, since freon is expensive depending on how much your appliance requires, its best to check everything first before you start removing parts from the appliance

SMALL OUTDOOR BEER REFRIGERATOR DOOR LEFT OPEN OVERNIGHT IT STARTED DEFROSOTNG AND THEN ACTED LIKE IT BULIT UP PRESSURE AND BLEW OUT AIR OR REFRIGERANT AND DOES NOT COOL ANYMORE

Hi, absolutely there's refrigerant (freon) leak check your condenser and evap. for rupture (broken lines) also check for oil, presence of oil means, refrigerant (freon) leak, plug ref, and listen, for hissing sound inside and outside of ref. try to locate leak, or call mechanic, repair leak, change filter drier and recharge, if your evap punctured, you should immediately disconnect ref, and dry all water from evap, prevent water from entering system, could damage compressor, or if water get into compressor, you will have to change compressor oil. yes, you surely have a refrigerant (freon) leak.good luck.

96 gmc k1500 4x4. a/c does not work

The 5.7l has a low pressure on off switch. if you freon is low it will not allow it to turn on. This is a way to protect the compressor. By jumping that compressor switch, it will turn on and blow hot because there is no freon AND NO COMPRESSOR OIL!!!! don't do it very long or you will trash your compressor if it is not already. Most vehicles these days have this safety feature.

Frigidaire stand up frost proof w/ temp alarm / 98' model. Compressor running, no power problem. Removed interior panel and found that evaporator coils not getting cool. When switch for alarm is pushed on...

If your compressor is running with no freon, It should be very hot. Check if it is. And if it is and the freon has leaked out. Then you must find the leak in the system before you add more freon. If you dont this will be an ongoing problem. The freon will leak out after any length of time. This is a very hard task to find the leak, and you will be money ahead to buy another if you dont find the leak than to re charge every year or so.

Chest Freezer doesn't get cold

Was this unit placed on its side or back? This can cause oil to get where it shouldn't and block freon flow. If the unit has not been moved this is not an issue. Could be the compressor but sounds more like low freon level. Most leaks happen when units are turned off for long periods. I don't ever believe in charging a deep freeze unless you can positively say you have found and fixed the leak. You can never really trust it again and the food inside is usually worth more than the freezer.
