I also have a blue vertical line on the right side on my 42" LG plasma. Bought in 2004 so of course the warranty is up. Repair shop said they could fix but would have the TV for a week. Do you have any other suggestions?

Just started last night. Turned the TV off (so I could put the kids to bed), and my husband turned it back on to find a blue line. We bought in 2005, and the set is now 3 YO. Can't afford a new one right now, so I'm hoping that someone has a suggestion!

I have a 3 year old 42" LG plasma as well - the 1024 x 768 resolution model... A one inch wide blue line is now running vertically through the right hand side of the screen - just developed today. I will be trying to get it sorted out this week and will let you know what I come up with.

I had a 1" vertical blue line on the right side of my LG Plasma (42") TV. I took it to the repair shop and they said it was a failed board. Emailed LG and they gave us a 30 day parts warranty as our extended warranty ran out in December '08 (it's now January '09). It covered parts, we had to cover labor. $160 in labor. I guess the part was a $1000 part. It looks like this isn't something a normal do-it-yourselfer can handle by him/herself. They replaced the board and the TV works like it's supposed to (no blue line).

I have done extensive reading and "Googling" about the - Blue Vertical line from top to bottom. (Oh so many problems and answers.) We are getting the shaft with these products: extended warranty or not. I have a 46 inch Samsung LCD TV (LNT4671F). I bought it 11/2007. Problem: I have a 2.5 inch wide hazy blue vertical line on the left side of my screen. Answer: I have found the problem to be related with the following: when you change to a new TV channel there is (normally) a small rectangular window that is a "channel display window" of the channel you switched to and some information, then it shuts off, and then you have a perfect viewing screen w/o blue line. When this "channel display window" comes on; I have noticed there is a vertical blue line - exactly 2.5 inches wide - which is exactly the same as my vertical line problem. I took the back case off and looked at the component at the top middle of the TV inside. I put everything back together, and then, turned the TV back on. Where there was a vertical blue line from top to bottom...now it is gone. One thing which is different --> I did not have this function set up before; the "channel display window function is now ON" whereby, previously, I believe I shut it off. Important: since the display window is back on (which shuts off in 10 to 15 seconds) --> I don't have a vertical blue line anymore !!!!
:) Very happy right now. If I called a service rep: they would have sucked lots of cash out of me b/c as customers ... we know little about how to fix this S_it.

if you can still see the picture its most likely the control board that's going bad, you will still need a tech out to fix the issue.

Thick color lines on screen

Hi ,Sorry, this is not a solution. I have a question about your line. Is it transparent? (can you see through if the picture is bright)Does it remain there all the time if you change inputs? My LG 42" just had a blue transparent line appear on the right side of screen. Tried a few trouble shooting things w/ no change. About 1 hour later it went away. Did you find a solution and what was it?
