Sounds like the Iris control motor is not opening the Iris.....it might be stuck closed or no power to the Iris control motor. when you switch to camera mode, look into the lens assembly, you can actually see if the Iris is opening...if you don't see any movement, then your problem is the Iris, if you do see the iris opening, then your problem might be more severe such as the camera module itself....what ever the case, your camera needs to be opened up for service.
good luck

What you probably have is some kind of condensation issue. This usually happens when the camera is used in places where there's high humidity, low temperature etc., Since you are able to view the pictures that are already taken, I would assume that this is just some kind of sensor issue. Most of the times this can be fixed by leaving the camera ON for about 1hr. This will get the condensation senor to sense everything is back to normal and will power up the viewfinder again.Let me know if it worked so that we can look at other possibilities.
Thanks,
Sai.
The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD
monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the
viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,
and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.
