keeps telling me to align the cartridges

  • Anonymous Nov 16, 2007

keeps telling me to align the cartridges and i press enter and still will not print

  • Cheryl Fleisher Nov 25, 2007

Press enter to align cartridges is continually displayed. I can print documents while this message is scrolling but cannot use the copy function. Haven't tried to scan and have long lost the fax function (am going to try to set up fax again though). I have aligned and realigned and changed and checked cartridges. Have turned off printer and computer, unconnected printer from computer and left to rest. Etc. Cannot get rid of align cartridge message. Tonight I think I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling printer. Cheryl

I have switched off at the plug then switched back on, I have made sure the is no jam

  • Anonymous Jun 12, 2008

I put in a new cartridge and the "align cartridge" message scrolls. No matter how many times I align the message reappears and no copying is allowed. Have unplugged, shut down, reinserted the cartridges, etc. All failed to fix the problem.

The following error message appears on the LCD panel on top of the printer after you insert a cartridge: Press enter to align cartridges . You press Enter , but the error message does not go away. The printer will not print. Solution To bypass the cartridge alignment, do the following:

  1. Press and hold the Setup button.
  2. Press the Options button. The printer should be ready to print.
If the print quality is unacceptable after bypassing alignment, follow the steps below until the error is corrected.

Clear carriage jam

The carriage assembly is what the ink cartridges moves on. The silver bar that runs through the cartridge holder must be oiled. Put two or three drops of thin oil oun iether sides of the cartridge holder. This should clear the "carriage error"

Good Luck

Error message= open door clear carriage jam and

I think the message is instructions, as in
(1) open door (2) clear carriage jam (3) press enter
So there is something internal to the printer that makes it think it has a carriage jam, piece of paper under a sensor, dirty or stuck sensor.
If you can't find it using a bright light, try canned air.

I am receiving an error message on my HP Officejet 6110 printer screen that prevents the printer from functioning. The message is "Open door. Clear carriage jam and then press enter." I've tried opening...

yes, that is a carriage jam and not paper, the grinding is from the clean station that gets blocked with dried ink and cant move. you need to open the printer and clean the ink off of the clean station so it can clean properly and not cause a carriage jam.

Cartridge jams

remove the cartridge and directly off the printer let the carriage remain in center.then with your hand manually move the carriage from left to right.3 to 4 times.then on the printer and insert the cartridge after cleaning it with dry tissue.then check out.also in the back side of the printer there is access door to remove the paper if jammed so check out there also if any paper jammed.
thanks.

Make sure you can move the print cartridge holder freely and that it isn't being blocked by anything inside the printer, also check if the cleaning station is in the right position, maybe it is locking the cartridges.
