Does the whining noise come from the motor or the brush area?
If it's from the brush area, it's probably the belt. Check to be sure the belt is not worn. Sometimes belts will glass up and slip. Also, check to see if it is still completely on as it should be. You may need to replace the belt.

Squeeling noise dyson 33

Is it when you go from carpet to floor or floor to carpet? It will make a loud noise detecting a possible suction issue. I've also had loud noises and turned over the vacuum and where the brush is, traps hair, thread, rubber bands, etc. Just take a scissor and cut it all out. Don't cut the bristles. Roll the brush as you cut and pull all the stuff wrapped around the brush. Once it is free, try it again.

It is probably the brush roll motor making the noise. Remove the brush roll & belt and turn both motors on. If you do not hear the noise when both motors are running the noise is likely coming from the brush roll

DC07 grinding noise

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to a repair shop. The problem is where the belt passes through from the brush and goes inside the machine. Move the belt over a bit and you will see that a plastic guide has been bent over and is pressing onto the brush, which causes the noise. Just bend it straight again and it stops.

When I tilt back handel and turn dial to carpet It makes a loud grinding noise

On a Dyson this engages the brush bar. Two possible faults: Debris (hair etc) caught in brush bar - cut out with knife. Or - damaged drive belt - pieces of belt striking casing. Last, but unlikely cause, debris in bearings of brush bar - replace brush bar.
