Your PlayStation does not control your Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi will most likely be emitted from a wireless router. The router determines the Wi-Fi password. You can reset the password, but you will need to know the IP address of the router and the logon username and password to access it. If you have that information, type the IP address of the router into a web browser's address bar. This will take you to the router's home page on the network where you can reset the password.

SOURCE: problem with playstation 3 games and blue-ray

I had a similar problem. My PS3 was not starting the game discs when I inserted those to the PS3. Also those game discs were not visible in the game menu.

I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or Movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine.

Actually I was able to start the game disc with a special trick, which required start some application, such as a downloaded game, let it start, and then hit the PS home button. The game disc title then shows up under the game menu and from that point remains viewable until the disc is ejected or the console is turned off.

In case you have the similar problem, I was able to fix this problem by executing the following steps;

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way;:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

Select option "Rebuild Database".

After the PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again under the game menu and are also starting automatically when inserted to the PS3.

How do i get my Ps3 to obtain the IP address?

Wireless or Wired - if wireless you have to match the wireless settings of the PS3 with your home's internet router WiFi settings (same protocol and valid password).

If wired, you just plug it in and, assuming the route is working with other wired devices, that router should issue an IP to the PlayStation - but again you need to go into Settings of the PlayStation and make sure you know which setting it is currently using - wired or wireless, not both at the same time - and then make sure the WiFi settings, in particular, match that of the Internet Service Provider's Router wifi settings you have, which work with other wireless devices in your house (hint: The playstation will accept the same settings as all the other devices in your house which are wireless, so once you match them, it should work - unless the PlayStation itself has a hardware problem - that issue is beyond the scope of this forum to help you resolve).

I have tried to set my playstation 3 online keeps asking for wep key what is this and were do i find it

Your PS3 is most likely trying to join a WiFi (Wireless) network. Sometimes WiFi networks have passwords to keep people out. The PS3 is asking for a WEP key because it is asking for the password so it can join that WiFi network and get online. Try to find your WEP key for your router. If it is not your router then you will be unable to join that network since it is secured.

Turn the playstation off and then back on. You have to be connected to PSN to play Netflix and connect to the PS Store--is something maybe wrong with your username/password?
