I have tried taking the battery out and fully charging it, when I put the battery in, the indicator shows a full charge, but when I use the throttle, the power gauge drops to empty, and the light starts blinking 7 times, telling me there is a Throttle Fault, wondering what to do now.
One of the cells of the battery seems to be bad. Though you charge it, and it shows full charge, but at the time of using the throttle the kinetic power is not there. I recommend that you take the battery to battery ware house so they can confirm the problem. If the problem is not with the battery then the issue is with the circuitry, but most likely it is the cranking power of the battery, though it is fully charged, but it get exhausted right away..
I took the Battery Unit to a Battery warehouse, and had them remove the old batteries, and install 2 new ones. I have owned the Zip'r 4 for about 5 years or more, and haven't replaced the batteries yet. I brought the new ones home, screwed the cover back in place, and hooked it up to the Zip'r. The Battery needle went to full, but when i hit the throttle, the gauge dropped to 0 and the light went out. I had been informed that the new batteries were supposed to be about 90% full, but thought it was possible they would be empty. I hooked the battery up to the charger and left them there. I went back the next day to check on the battery, and noticed the Orange/Red light on the charger, and thought that was strange, when I reached down to check the unit, the battery case itself was hot to the touch. Removing the case I discovered the two batteries inside had swelled up due to overheating and had leaked. I took them back to the store, and had them replaced. The man at the shop said that this was probably an issue of "overcharging" the batteries
Now I am confused as to what I should do next. The charger when hooked up to the old batteries showed a green light on it when charging, but as I never drained the batteries fully, but charged them after I used the Zip'r 4 twice, when taking my dog for a mile walk. I had no reason to belive that the charger is defective, because if it was overcharging batteries, shouldn't it have overcharged the original ones? When I go and hook up the charger to the case now that I have installed two new batteries, should the light on the charger be Red or Green? And if the new batteries, which are supposed to be 90% full from the shop, don't power the Zip'r 4, what should I do next? I thought it strange that when the new batteries were hooked up yesterday, the scooter lost power completley and didnt even blink the green light indicating what the issue was. I guess It was possible that the batteries were "dead" or "bad" but it seems unlikely. Looking for more help now.
Hello Dan. It seems to me that some where in the circuits, there is a draining. What it is that bad circuit drains your battery. I think the best thing is to check your scooter with a mechanic that checks your wiring. Do they have a site that you can contact them ,so they refer you to a certified mechanic? I am so sorry that you still have the problem.
