I have a Furuno 1715 and the array slows and stops frequently.

I have checked all that I can and have decided that the problem is with the drive motor. I disconnected the drive belt and I can see the motor slow and occasionally stop with no load on it. The unit has less than 12 hours on it. I can't find a replacement motor. The model number on the motor is J262-164. Other info on the motor is CKD RM 9572, 12 volt, step angle is 7.5 degrees 45 ohm coil serial # 5J14. Where can I get one?

Can i use a gps30 with 1715 furuno

You can interface the GP30 to the 1715 and get Lat/Lon readings where the cursor is. The GPS has extra wires in the power cable. The 1715 will require a NMEA cable pn 000-154-028. Connect the white GPS wire to the yellow radar wire and the blue GPS wire to the green radar wire.

Like a previous poster, I get "no heading pulse." However, my array is spinning, but erratically. I'm also in Mexico, and would like to pick up repair parts in the US rather than ship the unit to the US....

Adjust the motor mounting so belt don't slide up and down including the tension. Check the cabling connections, axial position sensor and rotor for weather damage. if problem resolved seal the housing with a silicon gel. If belt has visual wear 80% chance thats your culprit. Please be very careful for the magnetron has very HIGH VOLTAGE.

Furuno 1715 gives "no heading pulse" error. Image normal, but clocked due to no reference. Pulled heading sensor (4X6X1mm black box, two wires, labeled NRS-101) and checked continuity across leads. Open...

Heading pulse is a reed switch sensor built inside the dome. upon each rotation of the array the reed switch is activated. Do a visual inspection of your array (inside) to make sure it is spinning (verify from a distance). Don't get eye level with the rotating array it can cause great harm to your eyes. Normally I have seen the belt slip off and also the lanyard attachment get caught in the array. Check those two things as well.

A furuno 1715 lcd radar was wired to battery backwords

internal damage to the display, fixable by Furuno, and probably economically feasible (guess $250 with round trip to Furuno)

Error SB SIG MISS on FURUNO CRT radar?

Either your reed switch is bad or your antenna is not rotating. You may hear the motor spinning but that does not mean the array is. If the array is not spinning make sure the belt did not come off the motor. Start there.

Furuno Radar 1623 and 1715

Hello.

According to the operating manuals of the two radars (found on Furuno's Website (www.furunousa.com), they do use the same antenna cable.

Hope this was helpful.
