Hello,

The ignitor is bad again,if it (ignitor) comes on but no flame/heat its the ignotor again, what would make the ignotor go bad so fast (usually last 10-15 years) is a problem with the oven burner, so now BOTH the ignitor and burner would need to be replaced,if it is 15 years old the ignitor is readily avaliable but the burner may not be

I have an Amana ARG7102W P1143347NW gas range that the oven will not light. All other functions work including the broiler and the oven ignitor glows brightly. I don't think it is getting gas to the...

most likely it will be the ignitor, even though it glows it doesn't mean the ignitor is good.it works on amps.a flat ignitor takes 3.2 amps to open the gas valve and a round ignitor takes 2.5 amps to open the valve, the only way to check it is to replace it and i would or if you have an amp meter with a clamp on it you just stick one of the wires going to the ignitor inside the clamp and it will tell you how many amps are coming out of the ignitor.buy a new ignitor and you should be fine.it calls for ignitor part number 31940001 and it's around 50 dollars.

IGNITOR COMES ON OVEN DOES NOT

Hello there:
Normally if your ignitor is coming on in the specified time usually around 45 to 75 seconds
this would indicate that the thermostat is defective and needs to be replaced.
However if the ignitor its taking longer that this this would indicate that the ignitor is getting weak and should be replaced.
I would recommend replacing the ignitor along with the thermostate to ensure that you are using new parts you will get better performance with new parts ok
Hope this is very helpful for you

I have a kenmore self cleaning gas oven. the pilots light, the broil kicks on, but preheat won't start. what can i do?

Ok well heres the deal. I'm assuming that because this is a self cleaning oven then its probably fairly new in which case you probably don't have actual pilot lights on there but "glowbars" which are called ignitors. If this is the case, and you can see your ignitors for the bake and broil both glowing then chances are you have a weak bake ignitor. If the ignitor is not getting hot enough, then it will not send enough current to the gas valve to energize it (allowing it to open and let gas in). If its not glowing at all you can just get a voltage detector (you can buy them at walmart for about 10 bucks) turn the oven on and use your wand to see if the ignitor is getting power. If it is then its going to actually be open or shorted.

Overall deal is that 95/100 times if you have a gas oven with ignitors and its not baking its and bad or weak ignitor. They cost about 60-90 bucks.

If your oven does indeed have a pilot light then you will have a bad thermocouple or possibly obstructed burner tube.

Hope this helps _MJ_

Broiler on top works but oven wont ignite

OK, it is likley that the oven ignitor isn't working and needs to be replaced. To verify if this is the problem, when you turn on the oven to BAKE and set the temp at say, 350. Watch through the window, (or you can have the door open). Look at the bottom, back, center and see if you see a bright orange glow appearing under the bottom panel.

If you don't, that is why the oven won't lit the gas. There is an ignitor for both the broiler burner at the top and for the bake burner in the oven compartment.

It might be possible that your oven uses the same ignitor for both the broiler and bake burner tubes, so you could swap them if you wish to confirm that is the problem before you go and order/buy a new one.

Sometimes the ignitor burns out half way through but because it still lits/glows, people think it's OK, but it won't get hot enough to signal the gas valve to open and allow gas to ignite and get the oven cooking.
If you want to see a line drawing and a parts list showing the ignitor(s), go to searspartsdirect.com and enter in the model number of your oven and click on the links shown.

Hope this helps and best regards!

Frigidaire model number FGF356MXAWR, Serial #VF34511587 oven

it is probably the bake ignitor needs replaced. the only way to check it is with an amp meter. however, this is a part that does fail alot, and you can buy one for pretty cheap. it is located mounted on the bake burner by 2 screws. and it only involves splicing 2 wires, (the wire nuts you need should come with the new ignitor)

The problem is our over which I think is a GE JGRP17 Gas Single Oven based on descriptions on this site, the stove burners and broiler are working but the regular oven won't work, the igniter doesn't glow...

the problenm is in the ignitor. there is a possibly a break in the ignitor to where there is no continuity in. I would buy a new ignitor and then shut off the gas to the oven and replace the ignitor. That will solve your problem. Have a Merry Christmas and thank you for using FixyA!!

I have to cook way longer than recipe says.

This is usually caused by a weak oven ignitor. As they age, they seem to perform less effectively. Sometimes the oven will take several minutes to ignite the first time, and even worse on subsequent ignition cycles, resulting in overall low oven temp and poor baking. Replace the oven ignitor. Note, if you have a self clean gas oven, the ignitors are usually the same part number for the bake and broil, so you can try moving the broil ignitor (which is generally used much less than the bake ignitor) to the bake burner if you want to test it out before buying a replacement ignitor.

Kenmore oven 362.75275690 won't fire...has new ignitor

if you get 120 volts to the ignitor, then the ignitor will glow ,if not you have a bad ignitor. the valve should have continuity through the the 2 connections.. its poosible to have 110v to ground at ignitor, the only way you get 110v you need to check power across the 2 wires to the ignitor( not to ground), and this will not happen with a bad safety vavle
