I would say all sewing machines will work better with a little TLC. clean all old thread and dust out and add a little SEWING MACHINE OIL to the moving parts you can see. Also look in around the bobbin area for loose threads and the odd fur ball. You can blow these out or use the little brush that came with the machine. after all this oiling is done make sure to stitch a scrap piece of fabric in case some of the oil is still ozzing or leaks when you run it the first time. good luck and many happy stitches to you!

The manual should show you all the places that need to be oiled.

Do I need to oil machine?

Yes all sewing machines need to be oiled, but only use oil specifically formulated for sewing machines. Any sewing machine repair and sales business can supply the right oil.

Do i need to oil my necchi sewing machine? if so how? i have a model 4825.

The following web site indicates the machine should be "lubricated as needed." So, you should probably consult the owner's manual. Your machine is computerized which means there is usually limited oiling required, perhaps the hook.

Necchi 4825 Review Sewing Insight

Be sure to use good quality sewing machine oil recommended for your machine (NOT 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, etc.)

I need to know where and when to oil the machine

the oiling instructions should be in the manual,, if they are not, then contact the company who makes the machine, and ask them if you need to oil it or if it's a self oiling machine

Where do you oil the Janome 9102D serger?

Did your receive oil in your accessories if so then you need to oil your machine but if you did not then you probably need t let a dealer oil it some machines don't need oiling. I would check your manual or your nearest sewing machine dealer.

Do i need to oil my baby lock sewing machine?? Quiter's choice.

I cannot find a manual for this machine except at sew4less.com and the price is $14.95.

Contact Babylock to see if they will provide you with a download of the manual - http://www.babylock.com/contact-us/index.asp

If this is a mechanical machine, use sewing machine oil and the shuttle may be the only place it will need to be oil.

I have bernina sport 801 machine and need to know

You can oil any two metal parts that move togeather or through each other. Do not oil bearings and do not oil gears. Do not use 3 in 1 oil or WD-40. Use regular sewing machine oil.
801's were made from 1979 - 1982. The way Bernina dated these on the machine is by the serial number. Your number would probably start with a 0 or a 1. 1970 is a 0, 1971 is 01, 1980 is 1, 1981 is 11, 1990 is 2, 1991 is 21 etc. etc.

Do I ever need to oil this machine? When I bought it the said it never needed oiling. Thanks

No, its permanently lubricated. Most newer sewing machines are sealed and have enough oil to last the life of the machine. No need to worry about oiling unless its an older model

How to oil

some machines have sealed bearings and need oil only on a few external moving parts .. most older machines need just about everything that moves oiled periodically .. we need a model number to tell which you have ... use only oil intended for sewing machines .. other types of oil might become gummy after a while and make a mess of the machine .. if you can open the machine to see inside .(usually the top comes off) .. then anything that moves not made of plastic gets a drop of oil .. there are usually several places under the machine that also get oiled .. in general if it moves oil it ... dont get oil inside the motor where the brushes are ... if your machine has sealed bearings then you dont have to and shouldnt oil them..
