Epson stylus cx9400fax series printer

There is no chip resetter for this model at this time. However, one is to be available in the near future. So for now you must purchase new/refilled cartridges.

What is a chip resetter?

The resetter actually resets the Reset Ink Counter not a chip. It resets the ink level (ink metrer) . You can use the resetter tool.
Download the mptool from this site:

Will not recognise all cartridges

some problems with compatible cartridges can be solved by taking all the ink out and powering the printer off then back on then put the ink back in, you might have to do this a few times also make sure no ink or dust has built up on the pins.

What is a chip resetter?

John, the chip resetter usually will not work on a faulty chip. You could make sure that the chip is aligned on the cartridge and connecting properly in the printer but it will generally be an electronic problem inside the chip itself. You will most probably need a new cartridge OR replace the faulty chip with the one off an old empty cartridge of the same colour, and then reset it using a "chip resetter" device.

Message "parts in your printer are at end of service life. See your printer documentation.

Don't think it was me who spoke of gem or a resetter, but your printer is calling for the waste pads to be replaced... one normally would not bother cause it is quite a task..... after replacing the pads the machine also needs it's waste count reset which is done via dealer software ie, gem

GEM i beleive is a aftermarket version of such for some models of epson printers

All printer models are unique and software hack is difficult but search deep and wide and you may be lucky to find a reset program to suit. (but don't be supprised if later your desk is trashed when ink cant be contained by the unchanged pads and it pours out over it)

Ink cartridges on some models have chips inbuilt that count how many prints they do so they know when they are out of ink, regardless if you refill them hence the use of aftermarket chip resetters (nothing to do with your issue)

I would just simply throw it. Welcome to our creation the fantastic plastic disposable world
