This blue light is on the bottom right side/clock side. It goes through periods of blinking then, won't for several months. I don't use wifi. My pc is hardwired as there is/are serious stalker issues in my life. Could someone please help me with an answer and some peace of mind? Thank you in advance:)
Hi, I don't know if you already figured it out, but the blinking blue light has nothing to do with Wi-Fi. It is the IR signal indicator for the remote control. The receiver is invisible and located down near the blinking light. The fact is, that even if you don't have any IR sending devices nearby, any table lamp might cause a certain wavelength light, that makes this IR receiver think he's receiving and blink the light. Try to switch off all xtra light around you and the blinking should stop... :) Then if you still want to dim the light, find the IR sensor and put enough tape on top of it. This solved my same problem...
Hello,
You are seeing the blue light on the bottom of the screen / monitor is indeed the WI-FI indicator led, and when on it means that the pc has the Wi-FI on and when it is blinking it means it is searching for a network to connect to. All you need to do is turn it off using the keyboard. Find the "function " key usually labelled "fn" and sometimes in a blueish color, you will need to hold this button down and then find and press the wireless icon on the keyboard (Usually one of the function keys (F1 to F12)) the blue led should turn off and you are off the air. You don't need it anyways as you are hard wired!
Good Luck!

If it is in the tray, right-click it, and you can probably see what it is.

remove the power supply to the pc and leave it off for half an hour
SOURCE: widescreen resolution...
Every video card has it's max resolution. To see what your max is for the d530, if your running a version of XP. Open Control Panel. Open Display. This will open Display Properties. Click the Settings Tab. Listed there is screen resolution, sliding the marker all the way to More will give you your Max resolution. I have a high end video adapter & my max resolution only goes to 11280x1024. You may have to contact HP/Compaq. The link listed contains updated drivers for the d530 but there is a bunch listed because each d530's have different internal devices.

Is it still under warranty? It should be. If not then HP will help either way. This is a new development for HP to start with. Go to HP/support.com there are questions there to match up with the problem you are having if not then you can send them you actual problem you are having. They will most likely either pick up your PC at no cost or do a remote access to resolve your issue. Have any problem in doing this let me know and I will help you.

SOURCE: Power light blinks
If Power supply light on or flashes
Perform the following steps, in order, until power is restored or it is determined that there is a hardware failure:
CAUTION: This product contains components that are easily damaged by ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap that is connected to a grounded surface, like the metal frame of a PC.
1. Disconnect everything from the computer, including the power cord.
2. With the power cord disconnected , press the power button on the front of the computer for five seconds. Plug in the power cord and test to see if the computer can turn on. If not, continue using these steps.
NOTE: If the power supply fan makes an inconsistent grinding sound or stops and starts erratically, replace the power supply
3. With the power cord removed, flip the red voltage selector switch to the opposite position. Wait about five seconds, and then switch the red voltage selector switch back to its original location. Ensure that the voltage selector switch is on the correct setting, 115V for North America.
Performing this step ensures that the voltage switch is engaged and set correctly for your country/region.
Plug in the power cord and test to see if the computer can turn on. If not, continue using these steps.
4. Plug a lamp into the same outlet to see if the wall outlet has power. Try the computer in a different outlet in order to eliminate the outlet as a possible source of the issue. Test both to see if the wall outlets have power.
5. Remove all extension cords, power strips, surge protectors and any converters that remove ground. Plug the power cable directly to the wall outlet. Test for power. If this fixes the issue, find the device that is causing the issue and do not use it.
NOTE: If you find the device that was causing the problem was a surge protector, resetting a breaker or fuse on the surge protector may fix the issue.
6. Remove all attached devices except for keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
7. Remove any internal component that was recently added, such as video card, memory, CD, DVD, and hard drives. An added device may take more power than the power supply is rated for. If the problem goes away when the component is removed, the only option is to upgrade the power supply to power supply with a higher wattage rating.
