Usually it's because the battery is getting low. Cameras will often shut down to prevent losing data. Make sure the battery is fully charged or the camera is plugged in if it has an external power adapter.

SOURCE: how to download pics
even the camera guys from whom I purchased my canon didn't realize this one;
there's a small button on the top left of this camera they don't indicate for downloading
pics; that's all!

Goto any radio shack and get a external memory card reader this will allow you to get your pictures if the camera or cable is defective.

Hi,
Just use EOS utility to download files. Also this is the only way I could download very large video files.
