My Samsung BD-P1000 blu-ray disc player is a European version.
Some blu-ray DVD's play. Others don't. The one that don't play begin with a slide show -- language selection, producer's logo, copyright warning -- and then a "loading" message appears. But after about 20 seconds, the loading message goes off, and the screen is blank. Access to the disc menu is denied when I press the "disc menu" button on the remote. The display on the unit reads "slide show" in a continuous crawl. It's as if the disc is stuck on the slide show and cannot transfer to the disc menu and the movie. ("Scene selection" access is also denied.)
I have a Philips HDMI compatible plasma TV.
Discs that play: Blood Diamond, Wall-E, Australia, Quantum of Solace, and Mongol.
Discs that don't play: Cloverfield, Madagascar 2, The Godfather.
(All are European format blu-ray discs purchased at the loca video store here in Holland.)

you must read your instruc, manual for to see what format the DVD blue ray accept. download the instr.manual from www.fitness.manualsonline.com or www.retrevo.com Remember NOT all format are support form any DVD is doesnot matter if is DVD BLUE RAY or DVD conventional.
Here is a solution: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/samsung-bd-c6900/10895
Please note, however, that even
after region code hack, it may remain NTSC only, so if you are planning to
play European DVDs recorded with PAL system, it may not work.
Just need to verify if your trying to play a Bluray Disc or regular DVD?
If Bluray Disc:
All you need to do is to check on the FW version of you BD player. Go to Set-up > System > System Information. SW will be the FW version info. Please be informed that the latest FW version is v2.12. If it will not resolved the concern, try to verify if its happening to all of your Bluray Disc.
If its not a Blu-Ray disc, it wont have new technology that the Blu-Ray does not have installed so its unlikely a firmware update wil fix this as its generally for new Blu-Rays.
BD-P1000 Update Solution
The solution that worked for me: I went to www.samsung.com/ca and downloaded the Samsung BD-P1000 player's firmware update to my desktop. When opened, I was directed to"burn" a DVD on my computer. I then inserted the new DVD in my Blu-Ray player. The player automatically checked and confirmed player model number and registration and uploaded information from the DVD and the update was complete. The BD-P1000 then flawlessly played the rented Blu-Ray disc of "The Scorpion King".
Thank You Samsung!
I have a BD-P1000 and while playing a discit just stopped DEAD!
What can this be! It was also locking up, and would not play Blu-Ray discs? 609-296-6841 Dominick
