If the cable tv has audio out jacks, or if you have a cable box with an optical audio cable, plug either the audio jacks into the RCA system or the optical audio cable, and the system should automatically simulate 5.1, through Dolby Pro Logic II. All speakers will not be at the same volume as they are simulating surround sound, not just playing the audio.

The TV will never have sound for the DVD as this system has no audio out puts. Realistically, most televisions have 10w speakers, and this system is 130w, so the TV speakers are useless in comparison.

No sound from tv, dvd, cable. Speaker test does work. Sound stopped suddenly when channel was changed.

What does this mean: "when channel was changed"? TV channel?? Would that mean a remote command was issued? How about FM (no external cabling)?

Hi, Hiss soundare from RCA cables. You need to reconnect again, but using a different cable for connection.

And also sometimes home theater acts that way during test mode, Check the manual and you will see how to set the home theater to see the mode that will allow all speakers to work. It's a normal thing when connecting a newly bought home theater. It the settings.Use the manual.

Take care.

Only getting left and right speakers from my rtd3131, i have no idea why when i do the sound check they all work

It sounds like your system's audio is set to stereo mode, instead of surround sound. On the bottom-right of your remote, there should be a button labeled "surround" that changes the setting between the two modes. I hope this helps.

Connect Altec Lansing ADA745 to HD TV RCA output for home theater

It won't work like this due to this being a computer only speaker system. It requires the drivers to work with a computer & a Home theater does not recognize the format. Sorry.

Need a Manual or help with System

YOU NEED TO HOOK YOUR RCA CABLES FROM YOUR DVD,TV,AND DIGITAL CABLE TO THE INPUT SIDE OF THE SURROUND. HOOK THE RCA CABLES FROM THE TV TO THE AUX SIDE AND THE DVD TO THE VCR INPUT, AND THE DIGITAL TO TH LD SIDE OF THE INPUT YOU CAN SWITCH BETWEEN THE 3 ON THE FRONT OF THE SURROUND.BY MOVING THE KNOB. YOU WILL GET NOISE FROM THEM THEN TO THE SPEAKERS.
