Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

Open Question

Error 94,700 Looking for info on a Process Drive Fault. This may be a problem with the Process Drive's Gears. Xerox says to check if they are in their home positions. NOTE: Usually, manually tilting the head back and forth using Drum Maintenance Shaft should leave the Process Drive aligned.

Contact the company that you purchased the maintenance kit from.
They should have the solution or send you a replacement.
I know of no way to change the Xerox printer to match up with a non Xerox maintenance kit. They would not set the machine up to accept non Xerox products since that voids warranties.

There are a few things to try. If you have been using the device, I'm certain the first one is not it, but power off the machine. Look on the left side in the middle near the top. If there is a silver screw in the device, that needs to be removed. It is the shipping screw to hold the scanner in place when you are moving the device. Next, check your power source. Power off the device and plug it directly into the wall outlet, not into a power strip. The wall outlet needs to be grounded as well. Still have the code? Try the following (this is from the xerox.com support website)
Performing a Fault Reset 1 01 will reset your Scanner, and allow you to check the Scanner for broken parts as it moves.

  1. Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
  2. Find the button below the word Auto.
  3. Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
  4. Press the [1's] Key to enter 1 in the LED Display, as if you were to make 1 copy.
  5. Press the green [Start] button. '00' will flash in the LED Display.
  6. Press the [1's] Key to enter 01 in the LED Display, as if you were to make 1 copy.
  7. Press the green [Start] button. '01' will be in the LED Display and '100%' will be selected.
  8. Lift the Document Cover.
  9. Press the green [Start] button. The Scanner Bar should move from left to right under the Platen Glass.
  10. Visually check the Scanner Bar as it is moving to make sure it runs all the way across.
  11. Check the Mirror that follows the Scanner Bar to see if it is broken or cracked. NOTE: If you need to see the Scanner Bar and Mirror move again, press the green [Start] button again.
  12. Press the pink [Clear] button four times.
  13. The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.
If this does not work, you probably need to have the device serviced.

transfix, drum maintenance and head tilt. This can be caused by
the power control board. The process motor may have more than
one task initiated. Reset all solenoids and the pressure roller
prior to cycling power.

SOURCE: Xerox 8560 died after installing new maintenance kit.

The error is caused by the printhead not being able to tilt, the maintenance kit (oil roller) is driven round by the drum and has no physical connection to the tilt mechanism. Having said that I did once have a machine that had waste wax loose in the machine and when the customer replaced the maintenance kit the loose wax was pushed into the tilt drive gears which are located on the inside frame left hand side, right behind the oil roller. The wax jams the gears making a noise like a machine gun and tilt error 07,010 was the result.

Xerox Phaser 8860 Error code 07,010.43:38138

This indicates a process drive or printhead error has occurred. The printhead is stuck or is not tilting properly. Check that the process drive gear train is properly homed. Check for obstructions or ink spills around the printhead. (was the printer tipped on its side or moved while the ink was still hot?) Check for blockage in the purge tube. Verify the printhead travels smoothly from left to right. Check to see if the process drive gears assembly is loose (broken frame where screws are).

Printer error 04, 025, 46:1301

This fault code indicates a problem with the process control system. The machine cannot successfully home the transfix mechanism.

Check for obstructions around the printhead. Look for ink shards in the gears of the tilt drive. Check the printhead wiring harness to make sure it is not blocking the printhead movement (left/right & front/back). Remove the waste ink tray and look for ink build-up.
Check the process drive gears for damage. Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and homed. Check the nose cone alignment on the X-Axis motor. Is the nose cone aligned with the printhead shaft (left/right movement).

FAULT 37,016.43:19084

This error refers to the head maintenence clutch, but could be just the first error it gets before the real problem.
It could be a broken drum maintenance camshaft or pivot plate.

Also check the Process Drive Gears Assy. that all gears are matched up with the small holes in them.
