After 1 year of wondering why the LG instruction manual said no more than shove the white hose connector piece into the rear of the unit until secure, and relying on 'hit or miss' that the drain hose would actually work, (rather than filling up the bucket), I have finally found the solution. Ironically, it came while I was on my knees getting serial number from behind the bucket before they would try to help me by phone. There I saw it! The black interior drain piece inside the unit (top right when you remove the bucket) that the white house connector must be secured over. (Nothing in the manual ever told me to look for this.) As for securing the unit in the back--under the big vertical flap (which must point up and remain outside the unit), there is a smaller flap or triangular piece. They say that should be inside the unit, which it doesn't seem to go, because it is parallel to the large vertical flap), but if you push hard enough it does click onto the unit, while allowing the large while flap to remain outside (with the arrow pointing up), making the entire piece secure. Check once more to see if the white hose connector piece is secured over the interior drain piece (a black plastic elbow piece, on the top inside right where you remove the bucket, as I've said), and you'll be good to go! LG should be ashamed of their manual writing on this and the time I wasted getting my two units to work. However, at least these units are not fatally flawed as I was beginning to think.

Attach a length of garden hose no longer than 5 feet, to the threaded drain hose connection that was supplied with your unit, to carry water to the drain. 1. Remove the drain-hole cover on the back left side of your unit. 2. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector. 3. Push hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on Rear Grille with the arrow on the tab pointing UP. The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting. Do not over tighten the hose when connecting it to the hose connector, use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the plastic threads. When being attached to hose connector drain hose connection, do not bend or kink the hose. The hose should lie flat from the dehumidifier to the drain.
No. The tube inserts straight into the drain hole. Follow the 4 sets below.
1. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector. 2. Remove the drain-hole cover. 3. Push hose connector tightly into the drain-hole on Rear Grille. 4. Press the hose down and make sure the "Arrow" on the tab is pointing upward.
NOTE: The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting. Do not over tighten the hose when connecting it to the hose connector, use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the plastic threads. Be sure the hose lays flat and has no kinks, as it will not drain properly.
The drain hose connector MUST be attached to the unit, before attaching the garden hose. First, the connector is attached to the unit. Second, the hose is hand tightened to the connector. If you haven't been doing it in this order, that's the problem.
If you asking about the drain hose. There's what looks like a hose hookup on the back of the unit, down near the floor. It's probably plastic and is threaded to accept a garden hose. You may have to carefully knock out the opening of the plastic connector, to allow the water to drain into the connected hose. The hose then should go to a floor drain or sump pump. Keep in mind, the water will not drain up.
1. Remove the drain-hole cover from the back of the unit.
2. Connect a garden hose to the threaded hose connector.
3. Push the hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on the back of the unit
This is explained on the manual on page 12. Hope this helps
you should have a drain hose connector. this connecter is inserted into the back of the dehumidifier. your hose can then be connected to the connecter. if you are also miising your connecter, sears or any store similiar will have one
Push through the membrane with the drain connector. The membrane has a circular cut almost all the way through it, and pushing at it with the drain connector will pop out the little hole. I've done it with four LG units.
I've had a similar problem and I was told by Whirlpool that the hose has to run down along the side of the dehumidifier and not straight out. I moved it and things improved; then I moved it again and it got worse. So maybe you moved the hose while cleaning the vent, and moving the position around will help?
