Kevin, you can replace them anytime that you need to. One way to tell if it needs to be replaced is, if when you run the vacuum and the brush will stop when it makes contact with the carpet, it is time to replace. If you are wondering because the vacuum no longer pulls itself across the floor like it used to, that might be a belt problem as well, but could also be a brush problem. If you take the bottom cover off and look at the bearing blocks at each end of the roller, you will see one side that has several "hash" marks and the opposite side will only have one. When you take the cover off, if you see several hash marks, rotate the bearing block at both ends until you see only one and re-install the brush and change your belt. When you see several marks that means it has been in there since the brush was new. The single mark side will actually lower the brush closer to the floor and will allow the vacuum to pick up better. If you only see one mark when you take the cover off, you might have to replace the brush roller to get good pick up. Hope this helps!

The electricity light means there is powewr to the vacuum.The ? means there is not bag or the vacuum doesn't detect a bag.If so there is a little swich that is pushed down when closing the front cover.Make sure it goes down when closing.It is located where the top of the carboard of the bag top...Chris

Symbols..Question mark means "Put a bag in me", checkered light means : "Change me, I'm dirty"....pre-lit power light means: "You have Powaaa" to the unit and the thermostat light means the motor is too hot if it comes on, (most likely from a hose clog) and needs to cool down before the motor will run again. The settings on the control valve basically have to do with the auto shutoff when the bag needs changed. The lower the valve is turned, the more full the bag will get until it shuts off. While you can still open it, find the batteries and change them.
If they die, you may not be able to use the safe again.

usually it indicates a low suction issue. Wether the hose is clogged, or either one or all 4 filters need to be changed. Usually the cone and the circular filter above the plastic cone should be replaced.

That simply means to check your bag. The symbol actually represents a full bag, so this is telling you it's time to change it.

We have a machine like yours, we interprate the same as you. "Formula" is for some product other than Oxy Gen.

Of course, try this in an area that is out of the main view. We did and we were satisfied we guessed correctly.

It means to check the bag. Your bag is either missing or misaligned and has slipped past the little clear sensor or bag lockout plunger in the corner of the bag chamber at the door.
Remove the bag turn on the vac and push this switch, the vac should start when the switch is depressed. If not the internal switch inside the vac is misaligned or damaged. Please post back to confirm how you make out

There is no bag in the vacuum, or the bag is not placed in the vacuum correctly.

In the lower corner of the bag holder near the door is a little black switch, this switch must be pushed in for the vacuum to run. This is a safety so you cannot clean without a bag in the machine.
