Before any Singer Futura embroidery software will open, your machine must be on and connected by USB cable to the PC. It serves as a dongle. Many high-end programs require that a USB plug called a dongle be inserted before their program will open; connecting the PC serves as a substitute for that.

i am having the same problem with the autopunch , i too am running win xp sp2 , i have downloaded the patch , i have turned off automaic updates . and tried the to completly disable it . i think we should write to singer this isnt gwtting our moneys worth its getting a headache . what u think . they should come out with better software , it works or a while but when you shutsown and try again at later point you have to re do all the installation . is there anyone we can write to ,since singer isnt helping find a solution . if anyone comes up with solution please post . i am going bananas , i love my machine but i want to be able to import my own designs . help ....

I received an email back from Singer stating that it is not possible at this time to load the Futura software on a 64-bit system using Vista. I have emailed to ask whether it would load if the OS were XP, but I haven't heard back yet.
They said that they were working on finding a fix for this, but they aren't sure that they will since it's a hardware problem.

newtosinger, you got a very strange answer. Updates with 64bit Vista/XP and Windows 7 platforms support will be released for all Futura models, just due to higher demand updates for newer machine models are released first. So far updates exist for models ce150/250/350 and ses1000/2000. In a few days will be released an update for ce100/200 that use software 2.5.0.0-2.5.0.2. After that will be released an update for older software versions Futura 1.0.0.x (ce100) and 2.0.0.x (ce200/200E)

The download requires you to register, but there's nocost, it's updated regularly to keep it safe and has been thoroughly checkedout by a lot of geek experts out there. In the right hand panel, if UpperFilters exists, delete it. YES, delete it. 3. Go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\. 4. Delete the usbfilter string. 5. Close the registry 6. You will want to go into Start, then Computer.Double Click on C, then Windows\System 32/Drivers. Scroll down to the fileusbfilter.sys and delete it. Now reboot your computer. FINALLY-REINSTALL YOUR EMBROIDERY SOFTWARE ACCORDING TO THEORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR MANUFACTURER. And yell at them for not paying for the original programmerof the software to update the software properly to operate on Vista and Windows7! I hope this helps everyone! Unthread the machine and start from scratch. After rethreading make sure your spool of thread has free play at the reel (not caught on anything) then check the thread tension make sure it's not too tight. Also check the bobbin is in place correctly and the bobbin has been wound correctly not too tight. If it is still happening it may be an adjustment to be done by a tech? Also try different threat, faulty thread can do that as well.
