SOURCE: No video on Denon avr 688

After days of frustration the real problem was with the cable box. It needed a firmware update. Following forum advice I disconnected the cable box power cord for a few minutes, reconnected it, allowed the cable box to reinitialize. Turned off receiver and TV. Turned TV back on and set it to HDMI connection, turned on receiver and all worked fine. Great picture and sound.( Needed to buy an optical cable to go from the cable box to the receiver to get sound from the speaker system. )--the dirtybird

SOURCE: Hi with my denon avr 1908 can i run video through

you can get 5.1 using HDMI connection.
other wise in the set up you can configure the denon to not use the hdmi audio and configure that input to use coaxial or optical all digital inputs allow for 5.1 once all connections are made on the front of the unit find the input mode button and select auto

SOURCE: Denon AVR-1908 speaker issue

Before we play taps and throw dirt on top of the Denon, perhaps a bit more triage is in order. I'm not certain who the patient is. Especially when you have "speaker issue" in the title. Are you saying there are some speakers that don't work ONLY with BluRay?

If it has NEVER worked the (unnamed) BD player or its cable(s) could be at fault, too.

What 'connections' are we talking about. HDMI, coaxial- or optical audio, 5.1 analog; to what input on the Denon assigned to what function?

Have you tried all audio paths out of the BD player? Is it configured to squawk in the right digital mode?

Do you have any other digital audio sources (CD/DVD) you could use to certify the audio paths that don't work with the BD player?

I cant see the menu on the tv, i conected an hdmi cable to the ouput where it says monitor out, and my tv doesnt reconize it.

On page 8 it says, "The on-screen display signals are not outputted from the HDMI MONITOR OUT".

Run a set of cable(s) from the Video- S-Video- or Component Video Out connectors to a compatible input on the TV.

Flickering video with Denon AVR 1910

I had the same issue with my Denon AVR-1908.....It turned out to be the cable box, not the receiver. I would suggest you unplug your cable box, remove and reseat the cable card,HDMI cables, and finally the cable line itself. Make sure the wires are not frayed or otherwise pinched.

Good luck....

While watching tv my speakers started cracking and went loud then just stop working. turn the unit off then back on it works for a few seconds then does the same thing.Denon AVR 1908

I had the same issue..I called Denon support and they fixed the problem. You need to reboot the micro-processor....turn off the unit...hold down A+B then turn on...the display blinks (all the display is illuminated) Let go of the buttons.....issue resolved!

Good luck....

Back speakers with av denon 1908

Plug your rear 5.1 speakers into the surround speaker connections. Be sure to use the AVR 1908 set up menu to set rear speakers (not an amp assign). Hope this helps.

Sub not working

Try going into the GUI and making sure that you have the setting correct for your components. Make sure that HDMI is selected for your gear. Make sure Auto is selected, if that is an option. If sound like your AVR is confused as to the connection sources (optical for audio, component for video, HDMI for both). Good luck and hope this helps.
