How do I get the Autocue function to work on the Technics SL-D202 direct drive turntable?

The product is Technics Direct Drive Turntable SL-D202. I bought this from a local charity shop for around 20 and it was a good buy and it works brilliantly! Until, I started to realise that I could not cue the record and that I was just putting it on. I don't know much about how to fix things like this for the SL-D202 but if anyone had any idea how to help me as this is my first vinyl player and I really can not afford another. The stop button works and the arm goes back to normal off position but it is just the autocue that does not work. Please help.

Hi,
When you say that the auto cue does not function properly,do you mean that the arm will not lift from the rest onto the record or do you mean that the set down point of the arm on the record is not correct? Or does it not work at all?

SOURCE: Technics SL-B2 Frequency Generator Servo Automatic Turntable will not play

hello

You need a belt.. Lift up the record support..(platter) Underneath you will see a metal post.. Belt goes around that and the bottom of the plate.(there is a rim) . If the belt is there, motor might be bad..

Your best bet is to get a good quality switch contact cleaner to clean all the contacts on the speed control switches.
I guess the contacts inside the switches will have corroded slightly with your turntable having been stored in the garage.

SOURCE: Technics SL-J1 turntable drive belt

Hello Cliff,
You will need 2 belts, if the turntable belt is gone the other is not far behind . One for the turntable size 23.6 inch by .188 and one for the tracking motor that is in the top cover part, is a 3.0 inch by .046 belt. best place to get them is at kenselectronics.com part numbers 1407-201 and AV-SBS3.0 if you have been checking around you will see other sizes, I have a SL-J1 and have used these and they work perfectly.

I have a Technics Quartz SL-10 Direct Drive Automatic turntable and I need a pre-amp to drive it through a JVC RX-6012VSL Audio Control System.....preferably a Technics pre-amp.

Technics Preamps on eBay:

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=preamp+technics&_sacat=0&_odkw=preamp+technics&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313&_rdc=1

There are, of course, many non-Technics PHONO preamps out there.

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1311&_nkw=phono+preamp&_sacat=See-All-Categories

If you already have the central receiver and amplification part nailed down you really only need a Phono Preamp to boost and shape the output of the Phono Cartridge. Otherwise you're paying for source switching, volume and tones controls you don't need.

High pitched singing

It could be the wrong drive belt if the turntable is of the old fashioned type and does'nt have the direct drive. If the 33/45 switch isn't working properly then its a possibility its the drive belt tension on the turntable.

EVERYTIME I PLAY A RECORD IT DRAGS TO PICK UP SPEED

Are you sure you have a Technics SL1200MK2 Direct Drive Turntable? If so, then there is a major problem with the drive system. This can only be diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician.

If your turntable is not the Techics SL1200MK2, and you have no idea what turntable you have, look at the model's label, if it says BELT DRIVE - this is the reason why it drags to pick up speed. If it says DIRECT DRIVE, then take it to a service center for repair.

How do I change belt on a Technics linear SL -H350 turntable

http://www.archive.org/details/Turntable_Belt_Installation

above video should help. if your platter is "stuck" then call them for tips. also make sure it does NOT say "direct drive" on the front of the unit.

presuming you are talking about the SL-H350 as in the body not the SL-DZ1200 as in the title

All my vinyl sounds warped on turntable

Most common problem is the belt getting soft, especially if it has sat for a long time. It will get a weak spot where it sat on the drive pulley and every time the turntable goes around and hits that weak spot it will slow down a little making it sound like a warped album.

The belts are usually very easy to replace. Usually just lift off the turntable or there might be a small clip on the center pin, then it lifts off. Replacement belts can be ordered from several places, as shown in this search... http://www.google.com/search?&q=SL-B200+Technics+turntable+belt

Technics sl-1610 mk 2 turntable

Unfortunately, it does sound like a drive issue. Just so you know, these units are direct drive, so there is no physical motor. It's just a bunch of various circuits which drive the unit, and if any one of them go bad, it will affect your turntable speed. You will need to have this looked at by a service technician to determine which circuit is faulty.
