Power button not shutting it off. stuck on nabi loading screen what could be wrong?

1. Turn off your nabi Big Tab.
2. Press the Volume - button first, then press the Power button and hold them both until the system menu appears on the upper left corner of the screen.
3. Use the Volume - button to highlight "Recovery Mode," then press the Power button to select it.

If your Nabi tablet does not shut off then you might want to try to hold down the power button for 3-5 seconds, and then it will come up with a screen asking if you'd like to shut down.

If that does not work then you might want to contact customer support and they will help you out

power it off totally , remove sims.
power up with a usb attached to your pc
it will go into debug/recovery . its kinda iffy so retry

Remove the rubber case of the Nabi Jr. Then press the Volume + and the Power Button. Calibrate the screen. Wait for the calibration until it is completed. But if it is still frozen, press on the power button for about 10 to 30 seconds to shut it down. Then restart the device.

Sounds like you have a good charger/cable, so try resetting the Nabi that's giving you trouble. Hold the power switch down for 10-20 seconds to reset the unit.
I have a couple of NABI-2 tablets and they both react differently to the charging cables; I often have to shut the NABI off completely to charge them. Also, getting the charging cable to connect can be challenging - I will plug the cable in and out several times waiting 10 seconds or so to see if the green LED will go red.

Best bet is to reset the Nabi...hold the power button in for about 8 seconds. The tablet will shut down and restart. Unless you've dropped the Nabi (hard, my kids drop it often) it should restart and behave.

sounds like your screen broke. Nabi has 2 'scereens' a piece of glass on top, then the LCD screen below. The LCD screen can be broken by hitting or twisting it. It can also become more prone to breakage if you leave it out in excessive heat.
Nabi will fix the screen for about $60...

If you haven't done this already, hold down the power button for like 10 seconds to reset the system.
