On my 8 year old washer/dryer combination this afternoon the washer timer stopped turning using the center knob even when pushed in. I can still turn it by rotating the outer knob, however it is not ideal and I'd like to replace the broken part. How do I even diagnose which parts I need before ordering a timer plus the two knobs? Thanks, Deyan

needlenose pliers grabbing the center shaft (white plastic around a brass center around a screw), turned counterclockwise will free the remainder of the broken knob and allow you to remove it and then screw on the new part.

you have two different knobs to replace?..is it the water level knob or the timer knob?
if its the timer knob you need to remove, look underneath the timer and you will find a black plastic pin depressed at the middle. pull it slowly for about 1/4 of an inch.
then you can remove the knob in the front of the timer switch.
in putting it back, install the knob first in the timer and then depressed that black plastic pin to lock the knob.
be carefull not to pull the plastic pin all the way out. it would be very hard to put it back in.
cheers,

Hi,
Its better to replace parts # 3 and 4 to fix this problem....
Thanks
SOURCE: cold water constantly runs even when the knob is
If it fills with water and starts the cycle and
the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the
water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing. The cold side can fail independently of the hot side.
