I have an old Kenmore and here are the directions from my manual: 1. Draw thread from spool through bobbin winder tension discs. 2. Wind thread around an empty bobbin several times. 3. Place bobbin onto bobbin winder shaft with thread coming from rear of bobbin. Push bobbin winder latch against bobbin until it clicks. 4. Release clutch by turning clutch knob toward you. Start machine.

SOURCE: instructions for theading a Sears Kenmore Sewing machine model 158.14000

all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

To wind the bobbin, guide the thread around the thread guide on
the left top of your machine, then to the bobbin winder. Wind the thread around the bobbin several times, place the bobbin on top of the bobbin winder, push it against the wheel and press the foot pedal. It should stop winding when the bobbin is full or you take your foot off the control

SOURCE: Sears Kenmore Sewing Machine Model 385. 1254180 Bobbin Won't Wind

The winding sound is the rubber O-ring against the spinning pulley (back of hand wheel) - do not let this continue, it will wear out the O-ring.

I had the same problem and I found the shaft bushing of the winder dry and needed lubed. Use oil or spray lithium grease and it should work fine. Spin the bobbin shaft by hand (not the hand wheel) to get it freed up after oiling.

You can oil from the top and should take off the side case to clean the excess oil from the O-ring. The shaft bushing is a tight fit and any dry oil will get sticky and prevent winding.

I have an older kenmore sewing machine. It's been

When I have run into similar problems with my older Singer, it's because there is a bit of thread caught somewhere in the bobbin mechanism that doesn't allow the shuttle to run freely. Take the bobbin assembly apart and use a bright light to see if you see any bits of thread in there.

Good luck and let me know if this works!

hi there,
on my manual 1581 kenmore show figure on how you thread your bobbins and upper thread.
to thread bobbin insert the thread on one hole of winder holding thread and rotate thread on counter clockwise rotation several times, loop the thread on tension thread and insert bobbins winder on winder shaftat top of your sewing machine push the latch to lock bobbin winder
pull the handwheel to disengage the clutch and to move the winder free rotation.
press the foot pedal to run your winder and thread your bobbins be sure on counterclock wise rotation.
if winder is full of thread this will automatically disengage the shafting winder from clutch.

Kenmore cant thread bobbin

Sounds like you haven't engaged the bobbin into the wheel that runs the threader...

I had to pull the thread thru one of the little holes of
the bobbin and run the machine carefully to get it to
start threading.

Hope this helps.

Thread is not coming up from the bobbin assembly on sewing machine. Stitches don't show any thread coming from the bottom.

YOUR PROBLEM IS THE TIMMING IN YOUR MACHINE. THIS HAPPENDS WHEN YOU FORCE YOUR MACHINE TO SEW SOMETHING OR WHEN YOUR NEEDLE BRAKES. nOT SURE HOW TO FIX IT. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. USUALLY A TUNE-UP WOULD DO IT. IT'S ABOUT $99 TO $130.00 TO DO A TUNE UP. i WISH I KNEW HOW TO FIX IT MYSELF.

Upper thread wraps around bobbin mechanism, while sewing

IT PROBABLY IS THREADED INCORRECTLY. GO SLOWLY BY THE DIAPHRAGM AND MAKE SURE IT IS THREADED CORRECTLY. ALSO MAKE SURE SPOOL PIN HOLDERS ARE IN PLACE THAT HELPS TO GUIDE THE THREAD CORRECTLY.

Thread caught up around bobbin!

To address my needle thread tangling (horribly) in the bobbin compartment, I rethreaded the bobbin. I cleaned the bobbin and the feeder feet, I changed the bobbin and the thread. I changed the tension on the needle thread and the bobbin thread. NO FIX! Then, I changed the needle - the problem was fixed instantly. I sewed awhile and then put the original needle back in. No problem. I think perhaps that the problem is being caused by the needle getting out of alignment somehow during sewing. If you are having the same issue, try it. It can't hurt!

Kenmore Sewing Machine model # c877.15

I have a Kenmore as well ,I hope that this will work for you ,too bad that I don't live close to you otherwise I would give a hand. This is the way I fill the bobbin on mine. Mine is located on the top right ,I put the thread into the bobbin hole leaving a small piece of thread hanging for me to hold when I begin the winding, I pull the wheele out to stop the needle from moving while winding, when I am done just push it back in .I run the thread from the spool into the top left it looks like a U turn with a screw go around that without winding just pull it into the bobbin hole. press the foot control and it will begin winding .
