The problem may be in the control panel button itself. the feed button aways works, no adjustments necessary. It's main purpose is to advance the labels.

Lexmark E450dn will not power on, power cord is working

This issue may be due to one of the following:

  • An incorrectly set power switch.
  • An improperly functioning power outlet, surge protector, or power supply backup.
  • A poorly connected power or data cable.
  • A defect with a third-party (i.e. non-Lexmark) option such as a memory card.
  • An incorrectly connected or malfunctioning optional paper tray.
  • A malfunctioning printer component.
Please try the following steps:

Step Action 1 Make sure the power switch is in the "on" position. If it is, power off the printer. 2 If your printer's power cord is plugged into a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS), unplug it and connect it directly to a grounded wall outlet. Some of these devices can interfere with consistent electrical flow and cause the printer to fail to power up properly. 3 Disconnect the power cord from the back of the machine and then reconnect it. Make sure the power cord is plugged in all the way. 4 Disconnect any data cables (parallel, USB, Ethernet) from the rear of the printer. Any defect in a data cable may cause an electrical short circuit that could cause a loss of power to the printer. 5 Turn the printer on, this time with only the power cord connected and plugged directly into a grounded wall outlet. 6 If the printer still fails to power up, power off the printer once more. Verify that the outlet is working properly by connecting another device to it to see if it receives power. You can also try plugging the printer into a different grounded outlet. 7 If possible, try another printer power cord. 8
Verify that the printer is the correct voltage type for the environment in which it is being used. A 110V (low-voltage) printer will not work properly in a 220V (high-voltage) environment, and vice versa.

  • NOTE: Look at the rear of the printer and locate the electrical specifications sticker. Verify that the voltage rating on the sticker is the correct voltage for your printing environment (i.e. 110V or 220V).
9
Remove any third-party (i.e. non-Lexmark) options, such as memory cards, as they may interfere with proper printer functioning. Also remove any paper-handling options such as an optional second paper tray. 10
Attempt to power on the printer once more with all options removed, having verified that other devices work from that power outlet.
If there is still no power, the printer may require service to fix the issue. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local service provider.

If I am not printing continuously, the printer does not print the first 5-6 printing jobs. When print job sent to the printer I get a blank page (printing job can be more than one page). After the blank...

Hi there,
It seems that " Print on both sides (Manually)" is selected in printing options., when you want to print any document Go to file Print > select printer and click properties and disable the Manual printing option in device settings.
You should be able to get printing without errors,
if the option is not checked then check for the default paper tray,
save the settings and reboot your laptop/desktop and restart printer as well so that settings should work properly and any given command gets clear from memory, If these all settings are ok, Uninstall the printer driver and download the latest version drivers from HP website and install see links below

What setting is it, to keep the printer from calibrating every time I switch out the paper, even though they're all the same length & width. It wastes 2 labels, before it prints what I need.

There's a couple of settings in the menu that let you choose different options every time you open and close the printhead and also for every time you power it on.

"MEDIA POWER UP" - Set this to "CALIBRATE". -This will calibrate every time you power on the printer. I recommend this setting.

"HEAD CLOSE" - change to "FEED". - this will insure the printer starts printing properly witout having to recalibrate.

I just got a new computer with windows vista installed when i went to use my printer it keeps saying printer not commuciating with the coumpter

hello,
plug your printer to a power supply, connect the printer to the computer, make sure it is screwed properly, the computer detects it as a new hardware, install the new hardware hen it is ready for use.

when you are about to print, you select the item you want to print, then you right click and select 'print' from the options, select the type of printer you are about to use and it is ready for use.

My OKI C5200 no longer recognizes when I insert a piece of paper in the hand-feed tray (and press the spring-secure button) - nothing happens. The printer doesn't see the paper and, instead, draws from...

The problem is in the Property settings of your Printer. It is taking it from the bottom tray when it should be taking it from the upper. You have to change your settings so that it takes it from the upper tray. When you are ready to print, simply click File - Print - Properties and there should be an option in there somewhere for you to choose which tray you want the paper to come from. If this doesn't work, then yes, your printer is ready for recycle heaven. Cheers.

Will not print on all four lables, and does not print in the same place each time.

for starters you need to calibrate your printer.

Note: If printing in Direct Thermal Mode, default the printer first (4 flashes).

1. Load the labels and ribbon (if used) and close the printer
2. Turn on the printer power.
3. Allow the printer to feed or error out.
4. Press and hold the feed button until the green status LED flashes once, then twice. Release the feed button.
6. The printer will set the media sensor for the label backing being used and then automatically feed until a label is positioned at the printhead.
7. A profile of the media sensor settings (similar to the example in Figure 1) will print. Upon completion, the printer will save the new settings in memory and the printer is ready for normal operation.
8. Press the feed button. One entire blank label will feed. If this does not happen, try defaulting (Hold the FEED button until it flashes 4 times)
