I have just bought a petrol hedge trimmer model hht 2660 with no manual I need to put some petrol in but am unsure if it’s 2 stroke or straight petrol can you please help ?

Almost all are 2 stroke. If it has a place for oil togo into the motor-like a dipstick, it’s 4 stroke. If there’s no place for engine oil, you mix your petrol with 2stroke oil. Haven’t heard the term petrol in a while!

Hi have a Bauer at black series chainsaw hedge trimmer and whippersnipper all in one needing to know the oil/ petrol ratio can't find it anywhere cheers

2 stroke hand tools are generally 50:1

100ml of oil in 5L of petrol

Echo hedge trimmer replaced carburator still wont start getting spark

Hi, There are 3 things that you need for the motor to start.
1) Fuel 2) Air 3) Spark. Check all 3 and it should run. Good luck.

My RST210 2 stroke petrol strimmer won start it has a spark at the plug also the plug is flooding so fuel is getting through but non start ? Great full for any ideas

Often it's the easiest thing that stump us. Try changing the spark plug first. Sometimes a spark plug just won't fire under load, i.e., while it's in the cylinder but will spark if you have it removed. There are checkers for this, but it's a lot less expensive to just replace the spark plug. Do that first and let me know.

Put oil in your petrol can add the exact amount of petrol put the cap on shake well use and store out of sunlight

Any special procedures to starting an old ST-175 homelite weed trimmer that has not been run on over 8 years.

the carb and fuel lines will most likely need repair, i would mix a little extra 2 stroke oil in the gas on the first run, and a few drops 2 stroke oil in the cylinder is a good idea..oh and you might want to check the spark arrester on the muffler .. jay

Stihl petrol hedge clippers.engine starts o.k,runs for 10 mins;then stops.will not start again until it has cooled down,then it starts o.k.

could be the air filter needs replacing

My petrol weedeater/trimmer wont start

a few easy steps does it spark if not change the plug
if it doesnt spark now it could be a split in the HT lead so change that
Make sure u have clean petrol/oil mix
If still no luck check the on/off switch for rust or water
if damaged clean

What mix of 2 stroke oil do I use for a Stihl hedge trimmer, in other words how much 2 stroke oil do I put into 5 litres of petrol. Thanks.

if using top quality 2 stroke oil

you put 100 mils of oil into 5 litre container and add 5 litres of fuel only that is 50:1 petrol oil ratio

It could be extremely flooded with way to much fuel. in the motor.take out the sparkplug turn the ignition switch OFF and pull the starter rope...if there is a lot of fuel blowing out of the cylinder...thats your problem.....buy a new sparkplug and try starting it with no choke and full throttle with the new sparkplug fitted....see how you go.....or its warn out and has no compression to fire up the fuel.....in this case ..its time to upgrade
