Since you felt the need to ask this question, you are obviously not qualified for this level of repair. Take it to your local vac repair shop. If you have had your machine for less than 1 year it is still under warranty. If it is over 1 year old it is probably not worth fixing. New Hoovers are designed to last only one year and toss them ( as are most all bagless vacs for that matter ).

SOURCE: Automatic Cord Rewinder is not rewinding anymore

I had the same problem - the power cord for my Hoover Elite Upright (U5507900) was stuck a few inches out and wouldn't go any further. But when I unscrewed the rewinding mechanism, the cord had clearly gotten twisted and partly buried under itself so after some work I was able to free it. Now it seems to be working fine, at least for the moment. Note that I had to use small screwdrivers to unscrew the cord rewinding compartment, like the kind of screwdrivers you use for computer repair.

SOURCE: Hoover UH70120 WindTunnel TSeries problems with

You will probably have to replace the cord winding mechanism. I have never had any luck trying to repair one. Cord retracters are great when they work but it seems like they always go bad before too long. On many units you can't even replace the cord if you get a bad spot in it, you have to buy a new cord reel which can get expensive.

How do I replace cord rewinder on Hoover UH70120?

You should not try this on your own. Take it to an authorized Hoover warranty repair center near you. This is not an easy job and is usually not worth the expense if the machine is out of warranty anyway. If it's within the warranty period, warranty will cover it. My shop is a Hoover warranty center and we have replaced a lot of these.

The cord rewind pedal and metal piece came off and I can't get it back on. It doesn't appear broken.

It's plastic with chrome paint, not metal. Take it to a vac repair shop and have them fix it. You may break the tabs if you force it.

My hoover wind tunnel cord is all the way out; will not rewind. Can I fix it myself?

I took off the dust canister and then the 2 Phillips screws on top of the rewinder. I was searching how to get at the rewinder so I took out the HEPA filter and holder. I then pressed down on the rewind leaver and it rewound. I am not sure why but maybe what I removed was putting some pressure on the rewind mechanism or I just had good luck.

Power cord will not come out

There is probably a crossed cord in the rewinder. I am not sure but if you can get into the rewinder you can free up the cord it should go, hope this helps. Chris

How do you replace the belt on this vacuum cleaner?

At this URL:

you will find an exploded view of the vacuum you have. There is also a list of the comparable vacuums in the same family. I did not have time to do it, but if you check the comparable vacuums you may find a video on how to replace the belt.
If you find this solution helpful, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up rating from you. Thank you. Paul
