Would that be a side door or a rear hatch? Can you open the door from the inside? Can you roll down the window?

Testimonial: "1. Rear door 2. No I cannot open it from the inside 3.No I cannot roll down the window it has a windshield wiper on it.... It has been stuck since the winter."

  • Brad Brown Jun 26, 2014

On the inside there is a little round plug near the latch that you remove and then you can stick a screwdriver in the hole and pry up the latch to open it. Then you need to remove the inside panel and put the latch connecting rod back on.

2003 4Runner rear lid is stuck shut suddenly

The 2003 Toyota 4Runner should have a small access cover in the lower center portion of the rear door trim panel. Removing this cover will give you access to the rear door lock/latch assembly. It could be that the actuator portion of the assembly has failed in the lock position. You'll need to manipulate the mechanism on the assembly in order to get the latch to release and the door to open. If you need more room to do so, the assist pull strap can be removed followed by the rear door trim panel; this will be difficult in the closed position but possible with minimal damage to the trim panel. I would plan on having a new rear door lock/latch assembly ready for installation as they are rarely fixed via lubrication. Rear gate lock/latch assembly replacement is very similar that of a trunk on a sedan which you can read about here: https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-replace-a-trunk-lock-actuator-by-michael-france

Driver rear door stuck closed on 2002 Santa Fe Hyundai. Any ideas on how to fix it?

It's usually the lock that is stuck in lock position.Roll down the window, grab a rubber hammer and as you reach inside and unlock the door,HIT THE DOOR at the locking area with the rubber hammer. Now try to open the door.It may take a few tries but works to open doors 90% of the time.DO NOT lock this door until you have lubed the internal locking mechanical parts and are sure they work.

Door is loked on rear driver side want open

Won't open from outside? Won't open from inside? Equipped with power door locks? IF so, and won't open inside/outside, suspect stuck power door lock actuator. Sometimes working the lock/unlock button will make the door unlock. If not, the door will require disassembly from inside to determine what the failure may be. If the door needs disassembly while in the closed position, the paneling/clips may get damaged FYI

Rear driver side lock stuck in the unlocked position.

The servo motor in the door lock may have failed, broke, or disconnected. An Authorized Chevy Dealer should be able to check it.
