How to clean the bad smell?

I would not recommend it, there should not be anything there that needs cleaning except the insulation and possibly condenser coils. Somerefrigeratorshave their condensercoilsbehind a removable grille in the front. If yours does, snap off or unscrew the grille and clean thecoils, as above. Step 3: Wipe down the wall, the back of therefrigerator, and the sides with a damp cotton cloth and a little dish soap. Then vacuum and clean the floor

Hello, I am having some trouble with our fridge. It is a true T-35, The condenser is running, but when it gets down too 55 F, the condenser coils get too hot to touch and it smells like wires burning. I...

    • 1 The first thing you should always do when working on your refrigerator is either unplug it from the outlet or turn off the breaker supplying power to it. Don't worry about your food going bad; the interior of the fridge will remain cold for a few hours after power loss and this job only takes a few minutes.
    • 2 Next, on the bottom front of your refrigerator there should be a grill-like cover panel. If you have never cleaned your condenser coils before, then this grill will probably look kind of hairy itself! Some models have panels that simply snap off, while others may need to be unscrewed. Remove this panel.
    • 3 Turn the vacuum cleaner on and use the wand and nozzle attachment to clean out all of the dirt and debris that has accumulated under your refrigerator. Then, focus the nozzle on the condenser coils. Try to get as much dust as possible out of the coils.
    • 4 When you feel that the vacuum has sucked up everything it possibly can, turn your attention on that dirty cover plate. Use the vacuum to clean out the grills and remove all of the dirt. For the best results, give it a nice wash with some hot bleach water.
    • 5 Dry off the cover plate and install it back on the refrigerator. Plug the refrigerator back in or turn the breaker back on. That's all it takes to clean your condenser coils and keep your refrigerator running as efficiently as possible.
If your refrigerator has condenser coils located on the backside, it doesn't require cleaning quite as often as models that have the coils underneath. Once a year should be fine, but if you have never cleaned them, now would be a good time!

The freezer is running and is set to the coldest setting but still is not cold enough to freeze our food. Ice has melted and food in the freezer is beginning to thaw.

The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor.

1. Make sure condenser is clean.

2. If you have a "rear mounted" condenser (black coil on back) make sure it has enough room around it for air to circulate. Not against the wall and if under cabinet should have about six inches clearance.

.
Rear-Mounted CoilsYou should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without an assistant.

Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator.
Floor Level CoilsYou should clean floor level coils at least twice a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Vacuum or brush the coils.
Remove the grill from the front of the refrigerator and use a vacuum with a wand attachment to remove any dust and debris. The grill should snap off and on. Pull firmly toward you and possibly upward to remove the grill. If it does not come off with a modest effort, check for screws or retaining clips that may hold it in place.

I just bought a used refridgerator and it seems to make a buzzing, rattling noise at times then stops. Then it will start again later. The girl I bought it from said the coils may need cleaned or it may...

Hi there

The noise is a very annoying thing in refrigerators but to stop these please do the following.

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and unplug it.

Find the condenser coils on the refrigerator and clean them. These coils disperse heat, so cleaning them improves the effectiveness of the refrigerator which helps to stop the refrigerator from buzzing. To locate the coils, you will need to check your refrigerator owner's manual as they may be rear mounted or floor mounted coils.

Remove the dust build up on the condenser coils with a vacuum cleaner or condenser brush. If there is a large amount of build up on the refrigerator coils, you can use mild soapy water to more thoroughly clean them.

Clean the grill on the front of the refrigerator as it will also help eliminate the noise. The grill on front of the refrigerator should snap off and on, but check for screws first. Then pull firmly toward you to remove the grill.

Do these troubleshoots and the buzzing should stop

Compresor is hot and refrigerator it doesn't work

HI. This will occur if the condenser coils are dirty. This will inhibit the coils from dissipating heat.
