Hello I'm 18 and my throat started to hurt 3 or 4 days ago. Me and my friend have been smoking and inhaling a black and mild ,maybe 2 a week, for the past couple months. (3 out of 4 we take out the cancer paper) We maybe smoke one cigarette once every other week. I don't smoke a lot but it seemed after the last time I smoked 3 days ago I got a throat pain when I swallow. It doesn't hurt unbearably and helps when I drink water. Also mucus builds up and I have a slight cough. What could it be?

SOURCE: Car is smoking on start up, a lot of white smoke

If the engine is using oil then first remove the dipstick and run the engine, check to see if heavy smoke is coming out of the tube, this would indicate worn piston rings,if it is not so dense, yet you are using oil and it smokes bad from the exhaust, then its likely the valve seals are worn. either way, unless you have mechanical knowledge, tools etc , you need to take it to a mechanic for the engine repairs or live with the oil consumption. There are no quick fixes for engine wear.

I can't tell you anything specific but black smoke indicates incomplete burning such as not getting enough air or too much fuel. A quick check of the air filter wouldn't hurt but it's probably something else.

Car was overheating...replaced water pump, radiator and hoses. Got car from shop and had hugh white clouds following me home. Drove home and immedeately parked it. Started it every other day for 2 weeks...

Hello,

I am sorry to say it looks like you have blown a head gasket. What happen is when it was overheating, it was maybe because the water pump of course was not providing water/antifreeze to the motor. Now of course that is why you took it to the shop to have water pump replaced, radiator and hoses and etc. Maybe just Maybe the thermostat could of been the original problem that cause the overheating to begin with, however that is pass tense now.

When there is white smoke pouring out the back, especially with the prior problem with the over heating, it most likely warped your head, which of course cause a leak at the head gasket. Now, the load thump or pop you hook under hood, could be because the head gasket is blown possible now threw a rod, or piston. I do not want to scare you and tell you a lot of stuff that you don't want to hear, but it will be expensive to fix if you blew a head gasket and threw a rod, or piston. Best thing to do, is i hate to say it, is get it into the shop. Yes, it would have to be towed. Unless you have a real good shop near by or good friend that is mechanically inclined to verify my diagnosis.

White smoke is caused by coolant or water coming out the tail pipe. white smoke continues you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket.

there may be a software update for the powertrain control module for mis-fire monitor. check with your local dealer. but if thats not the case, these engines are known at least in my experience of having the heads crack between the valves and cause mild mis-fires. try compression testing all the cylinders and performing a leakdown test on them as well.

2000 Jetta is Leaking antifreeze and smoking

I think you mean you saw water vapor (some call it steam) not smoke.

You probably have a hose leaking (badly). If it's not a hose, your water pump shaft seal is probably kaput.

White smoke

Sounds like you've got a leaking head gasket. Check your coolant and see if there's any black gunk in it, if there is you for sure have a leaking head gasket.
