Under the right hand hinge, the plastic hinge cover has cut into one or more wires

Unplug the battery, unplug the mains, carefully undo the 2 screws immediately under the laptop AT THE TOP in the middle undet usb / VGA socket roughly (on the base)

the plastic panel around the power on button (and volume buttons) will pop out carefully

take off the hinge covers carefully

examine the wires... solder them, insulate ... you will see the problem

the laptop "strecthed" out with the screen open strecthes the nicked wire and it disconnects... when you shut it, it reconnects

that ok mate?

Check your power saving mode in the system settings. You might have enabled the battery saving options.

Hello Viki;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

This general means you have a door open and are not getting the set temperatures.

1.) Check to see that food in the refrigerator is not extending beyond the edge of the shelves'.
2.) The front of the refrigerator should be higher than the back. Being pitched back assist the doors in staying closed.
3.) Remove the front bottom toe plate or grill. There may be screws holding it in place, if not it just pops off.
4.) You will see two leveling screws in the front, one on each side.
5.) Turn these screws clockwise until you get the desired pitch. Open the door 3/4 of the way. The doors should close by themselves.

If you have a bottom freezer, check for ice build up around the door, preventing the door from closing all of the way.

If this does not help, then you have a cooling problem, bad sensors or worse.

Why are all the lights on LCD screen on?

How to troubleshoot and fix video problems
Here are some tips and tricks for troubleshooting and fixing laptop video problems. Video issues are very common within portable computers and with the following tips you should be able to detect and eliminate basic laptop video problems.
Laptop LCD screen has a faint image.

all-lights-lcd-screen-4ztirbadqll2ypvmakqp10pq-2-0.jpg
Look at the LCD screen very closely and check if you can see a faint image on the screen. It's possible that the LCD lid close switch stuck in the "closed" position and the backlight stays off even when you open the LCD screen or turn on the laptop. The switch turns off the backlight when you close the LCD display to save the laptop battery power. Check the LCD lid close switch. Usually it is a small plastic pin located close to the LCD hinges. Try to tap on the switch a few times to turn on the backlight. If after tapping on the LCD lid close switch the backlight stays on, you fixed the problem.
It is also possible that after tapping on the LCD lid close switch the backlight works fine, you see a normal video on the screen for some time and then the backlight turns itself off again. In this case I would blame the FL inverter board. Try to reseat cables on both end of the FL inverter to make a better contact between the cables and the FL inverter board. If it doesn't help I would try to replace the FL inverter board.
Laptop LCD screen is solid white color.

Most likely it is just a bad connection between the LCD display and the system board. I would try reseating the video cable connector on the back of the LCD screen first and check if it fixes the problem. After that I would try reseating the video cable connector on the system board. I would also try reseating cables if there is no video on the LCD screen at all.

Try to connect the LCD screen to an external monitor. If the external video is fine, you have a problem with the LCD screen or the LCD video cable. You can try to fix the problem by reseating the video cable on the back of the LCD and on the system board.
If you see the same garbled video output on the external monitor most likely it is not the LCD screen problem. In this case the system board (with onboard video) is bad or the video card is bad.

Compaq presario cq61 screen went dark but can still see window faintly through the dark sreen.

Look at the LCD screen very closely and check if you can see a faint image on the screen. It's possible that the LCD lid close switch stuck in the "closed" position and the back-light stays off even when you open the LCD screen or turn on the laptop. The switch turns off the back-light when you close the LCD display to save the laptop battery power.

If no luck, try to remove battery and drain the power, then replace battery and turn on.

If that didn't fix it then there are 3 things that could have gone wrong:

1. Video cable connection from inverter to LCD got loose. To check this, follow instructions from step 3 on how to open the LCD and check if cable is fitted properly.

2. The video inverter is faulty
The screen inverter failure is very similar to the back-light lamp failure. In both cases the screen gets very dark and the image on the screen becomes very faint, barely visible under a bright light. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. You can replace this otherwise - you can find the inverter under the screen, follow the procedure described at point 3 to open up the screen.

3. The LCD monitor is faulty
If it works on an external monitor most likely the LCD is faulty and needs replacement. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. If not, you can do it yourself, it's pretty easy. Remove the rubber covers on the side of the screen, unscrew the screws take the plastic cover off, disconnect the video inverter and put in the new LCD after you connect the video inverter to it.

Dear Sir, this looks like the cable connecting screen and notebook body internally got loose.
Please disassemble, make sure it has been properly connected, reassamble and try again

Hi I have a 2 inch wide vertical white band on my screen. It is faint and other screen material can be seen through it.

Hello,

This is a sign your monitor is getting ready to go out. The only fix is a new lcd. Check with your local authorized Compaq/HP dealer for more information.

Good Luck

Faint black screen

try the power management again if this does not work the try thebrightness of the montior if nothing ele only other thing is that the video card went from being on to long because it over heated you should buy a laptop holder for it to keep it off the table top and this way it gets more air to keep cool

It's all black

If you power it on, take a flashlight and shine it on the lcd at and angle and look real close to see if you can see a faint image. If you can, then your backlight in the screen is not working.
Also, you can attatch an external monitor to it, while its off, then power it on and see if it lights the external monitor. Try that and let me know your results.
If you get a picture ok on the external, and you can see a faint image on the lcd using a flashlight, then it could be the backlight inverter board or the bulb itself inside the lcd went out.
If you don't get any picture at all, using an external monitor and can't see a faint image on the lcd using a flashlight, then I would say there's other problems with the laptop itself. Could be a mainboard problem, power issue, etc..
