Most places listed "1 tuner" in specs. Was finally able to find a site where it listed the type of tuner which confirmed that it was not HD compatible. That was all I needed. Sorry I troubled you with this, I shouldn't even have been on your site with this Q. Thanks for responding. Potter1

This particular model is old enough to have an analog tuner (NTSC) rather than a digital one (ATSC). In order to receive the new over the air signals which are digital a converter is required. Not all CRT based sets are analog only, but this one is. No external converter is required if you have satellite or cable.
