Lawn Boy Model # 10785, purchased September, 2007. This machine has a sens-a-speed drive which suddenly quit driving. Now I have a push mower.
SOURCE: My daughter called said she hit a stick with her new lawn boy mow
Check and see if the belt for the drive wheels is still on the pulleys.
SOURCE: Sens-a-speed mower rear wheels lockup when trying
this means that the self propelled is engaged the whole time. so you need to somhow disengage it
SOURCE: lawn boy 2 cycle mower won't start
Replace the spark plug and retry.
If a new plug does not work push the spring button on the bottom of the carburetor to make sure fresh fuel is in the fuel bowl.
if this does not work remove the spark plug and squirt some light oil (like wd 40) right into the spark plug hole; roll the engine over slowly a couple times using the starter rope. put the plug back in and snap the plug wire in place. If the mower now starts after a couple pulls it means the rings are worn, replace the rings.
SOURCE: The rear wheels will not turn in reverse at all. I
Rear wheel drives like this have pinion gears with rachet pawls that allow them to go backwards freely while locking when the transmission drives them.
You need to take off your rear wheels and carefully remove the pawls. They look like little squareish metal shaft keys with springs under them. You should notice that the keys or pawls are covered in what looks like grease.....which is actually worm metal from the pinion gear and oil mixed together to form this pastey greasey substance. Clean all that stuff off and lightly oil *( light oil...3 in 1 kind of oil) and reassemble.
You should hear the nice clean clicking of the rachet pawls as you roll backwards again!
Good luck and be careful!
