Possibly broken spring or damaged ratchet mechanism. You will have to remove starter head and inspect.

SOURCE: pull cord will not retract

Have to take all 3 plastic covers (housings) off to get to the spring and tie the new pull rope or change the spring. Just did mine, spring just unlatched and string wouldn't retract. Did not have to by any new parts....works great! Took me 1 hour to get it done.

SOURCE: pull rope wont retract all the way

take the rope cowling off....undo the screw slightly then turn to tighten the spring...not to much...just enough to make the rope pull back into the cowling cover.

SOURCE: I have a Homelite Mighty Lite 26cs gas weed

This is somewhat common in the the "zip start" machines. The recoil pulley is 2 plastic housings with a round coil spring between them. It is designed to need less effort to pull and start the machine. When pulled on with great effort/frustration, the middle spring bends and damages the upper housing. The only semi-permanent solution is to replace the pulley assembly. The part is relatively cheap thru Homelite.com. If you can do it yourself, go for it. A repair shop will most likely charge you $20 to $40 in labor to do this.

What is the spark plug gap for a homelite 2700psi pressure washer with champion eco 322

The recommended spark plug gap for a Homelite 2700 PSI pressure washer with a Champion Eco 322 spark plug is 0.030 inches.

but in my opinion, It's always best to consult the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the proper spark plug gap for your specific pressure washer model.

Installing a starter rope

Remove the 3 or so screws that secure the pull rope housing to the top of the motor. Flip it upside down and it should be pretty obvious as to how to remove the spine loaded piece that the rope goes on. Thread the new rope thru the housing and wind it up on the spindle. Make sure before you put it on that the rope pulls out and retracts like it should.

JIFFY MODEL 75 ICE AUGER recoil isnt retracting my pull cord. A small engine repairman said i need a whole new top housing and that it is all one piece. Second opinions??

He is correct but if you are handy you can take off the starter assembly and locate/repair the problem yourself. There is a spring assembly in there and if it pops off, the string will not be retracted for starting purposes.

I have a stihl fs 80, the starter cord will not retract after the first pull. The spring is still intacted but doesn't spring back when re-attached to weed eater.

One of 2 things come 2 mind, if the spring is still in tact it could be that the retract line might be slightly to long and forces the spring to over travel and lock up against itself. A simple test would be to pull the pull start to only 80%. If at 80% it retracts normally then shorten the pull string by a few centimeters . alternatively the spring may be over tensioned by a turn or two. to release pull the string out with the pull starter off the machine to about halfway, hold down the recoil to release the tension off the string and pull the string out towards you through the slot provided on the face of the recoil into a loop. Gently let the recoil slip one full turn at a time until there is just enough tension to pull the handle all the way back. if its too loose just revers the process one turn at a time. its not complicated, to do but can be tricky,
if DIY is not your thing, refer to someone better qualified,

Starter rope will not retract

Either you have a broken rewind spring, or the starter mechanism is dirty to the point where the force of the recoil spring is not sufficient to pull the rope back in.
WEAR SAFETY GLASSES while disassembling your starter mechanism to see what the problem is. Upon reassembly, it is a good idea to lube the post in the starter housing (the one the pulley slides over) with some graphite or teflon lube.
