Have you unplugged it?
If not unplug it count to 30 and replug it in.
Usually if it's in standby mode a couple things could be going on. One which is the most common is that the box hasn't downloaded all the info it needed.
Every time something reboots it always loads stuff such as color/sound/grain/hz/hd/standard/dish/cable etc. To rectify it you do a reboot.which is unplugging it and plugging it back in. Good luck hope this helps

If the led is red that means its stuck in stand by mode which is an indication that you have a problem in the power board

hi this fault could be caused by a bad capacitor/ dry joint you will need to take the top off an inspect the power board, hope it helps

Try a hard reset. Unplug it from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 10 minutes or so, and check.

Philips TV 21PT502179 turns itself off and remains in stand-by mode. Once this happens we are unable to turn it back on with remote - just stays in stand-by mode. any ideas?

Can you explain a bit more? Generally speaking when this kind of component shows that behavior means that is stuck in protect mode because it has an internal fault, and furthermore in the power amp output section.

I would double check the capacitors on the power supply board. Make sure you don't have any that are bulged at the tops. Secondly, when you try and turn it on, does the orange light flash at all??

Hi, my tv wont come on. the stand by light turns on and off (as if it were not turned on, just on stand by mode) in red, then it turns blue/white as if it was going to come on and it simply turns off...

The power supply is dead,Theres a leak capacitor,you can identify those capacitor if leak of deffect when the top is round shape and usaully the normal capacitor is flated at the top.Try to replace capacitor at the power supply.

Monitor willnot come out of sleep mode

turn off everything and restart computer in safe mode,do this by holding down f8 as you reboot,then go in your setting and remove time limit on sleep mode.
