I don\'t know, but change the switch or bypass it. They give plenty of problems & motor would start sometimes & not others.....Check the oil & rely on old style tech. I bypassed the switch on both of mine.after they gave problems & wouldn\'t run when needed....I only got a second one when I needed power & the switch was the only thing wrong ( I found this out too late.) & ended up with 2....

I only had to disconnect mine ..not bypass it ,,so I guess it should be open. It' working veery dependable now

Unless you're in very cold locations use SAE 5W30 regular motor oil.

SOURCE: I have a Coleman Model PM0545007.01 6250 W

Seems that your carberator maybe clogged at the jets. However, before you purchase a rebuild kit for your carberator make sure the fuel flow coming out of the fuel tank has a steady flow. I have seen where the fuel hole or line at the tank becomes clogged. If you feel the the fuel flow is poor grab a wire type coat hanger and clean out the hole and fuel line. Also, check for fuel filters, replace it if you have one on the genset.

SOURCE: Generator with Briggs & Stratton,no gas is getting in carburetor

The needle valve may be stuck which would not let gas into the carb. I don;t think rebuild kits are too expensive. Pull the carb and take it to a lawnmower repair shop and they should have the parts. Before that though pull the bowl and make sure it has gas in it. If no then remove the fuel line and make sure gas flows from it. If no then could be the fuel shutoff valve is not operating properly or junk in the gas tank is obstructing the line.

SOURCE: how to set govenor on a briggs 10hp ohv

You should do an inspection of the governor linkage and spring before start, it should be in full fuel and move easily by hand.

Governors tend to not just go bad or even out of adjustment.

Is your real problem a clogged carb?

This would leave the Governor in full fuel and still starving for fuel.

If so remove carb, flush and clean the high speed jet adjust needle valve all the way in back out 1.5 turns and it should run normally again.

Hope this tip helps.

I have a portable generator, 5600. My C1 engine light came on to check oil, however there is no dipstick. How do I check oil level etc?

No dipstick then you fill it all the way to the bottom of the oil fill hole. If you have a riser type oil filler the dipstick should be attached to the cap. Worst case senerio remove the low oil level sensor and fill with oil at that point until you can no longer add oil without making a mess, I am sure there is a gray oil cap somewhere. That is where your supposed to add oil until you can no longer add oil without it overflowing.

I am trying to figuare out what type of oil to put in a Briggs & Stratton model 09415-0 generator

Hi b_fesperman,

Here is Briggs&Stratton's webpage with the oil specs for their engines: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/engines/support/frequently-asked-questions/Engine%20Oil%20Recommendations/

Copy and paste the entire address into your browser and the information will open for you. Note that synthetic 5W30 can be used in all temps.

Hope this helps. If it does, please place a vote for me. Thanks,

Looking for a replacement battery for a Generac protable generator #01470. Users manual calls out part number 193043GS Generac does not recognize this #, at least onlnie.

Try that number through a Briggs and Stratton parts dealer. Your generator is now owned by Briggs and Stratton Power Products division.

How much oil is required for 6.75 hp briggs and stratton engine on a 3750 generator?

Probably about 750cc / near 3/4 of a quart. Make sure generator is on level surface, add oil in small amounts and check using dipstick until shows full.

I own a Generac power washer model 01292=1 type 6670CP GPM2.9 PSI 2300 and request the owners manuel for this model Thank You Al Bonfardino [email protected]

Go to the Briggs and Stratton website and go to their generators then to Generac. You should be able to track down a link to putting in your model number. (4) PDF manuals show for that model. http://www.generac-portables.com/service_support/owner_manuals/owner_manuals.cfm?rd=1

I have a Generac portable generator 5000 watts, won't start!

I am assuming the generator worked fine before the oil change. Now that you have done the oil change the genset does not start. These generators have a safety switch, which is basically an oil pressure switch that keeps the engine from running when there is not enough oil in the engine. Make sure that there is enough oil and if there is, look for a wire that runs along side of the engine to a round component. disconnect that wire and try starting. If it does not start then try to ground out the wire to the engine block. If this does not work, then there is other engine problems.

On a generac pressure washer that works fine.

Oil level in pump and motor OK? Spark plug not fouled? Has it sat for a while - carb dirty? Running (loaded) throttle rpm not high enough?
