I have a faulty start button on my H5470 Microwave. Can I fit a new one and where can I get one? I am a reasonably competant engineer.

Check and replace magnitron with one of the same number or equivalent.High tension transformer fuse may be blown or high voltage diode and or capacitor shorted. N.B. Please disconnect applance from mains and discharge large capacitor before carrying any DIY on any microwave,

Replace the door interlockswitches - or try re-positioning the existing set. They wear after time

Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.

Attempt this only if you are competent.

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.

Simple if you know how. There are componants in a microwave that can KILL, or hurt you, even if unplugged for a long period of time.

is the little plastic pin sticking out from the inside of the door,if not it would need a door key fitted which is noit an easy job,if the door key there would probably have a problem with the switch kit.there is a pin which holds the door closed which can get snapped of .if this is the case the switch kit is about £70 - 90 AND IS not that easy to fit,if you have any more problems give me a text back

e 10 is the internal safety fuse has blown this often happens if door is altered for any reason moving the door can effect the setting of the monitor switches these are set to a high tolerance to avoid operation of microwave with door open changing the door has shifted these settings and blown the fuse, replacing the fuse may be enough to get it going but it should be checked for leakage.

We had the same problem, got Neff service engineer to come out after taking out insurance. He said the megatron cracks which is a large magnet and causes the fuse board to blow and needs to be replaced. This occurs through lack of ventilation on instalation. Total cost £370 may as well get a new one. Plus our insurance wouldn't pay the cost and cancelled the insurance policy.

sound like the door monitor switched has blown or shifted out of position if the switches dont operate in tandem when door is opened or closed it will blow the 10 amp fuse and kill the display they will need to be checked by engineer if it is monitor switch they are not expensive to replace.

if appliance runs for approx twenty seconds this is nearly always a magnetron fault usually a cracked magnet or burnt out anode the electronics are detecting an unusual power fluctuation and shutting appliance down for safety you will need service tech to sort.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.
