I have a Festiva watch with a metal writ band. It's just a little too long. So I've purchased (online) a little device that will clamp onto the wrist band and "push" the link pin out. I've been able to do this. However, now that I've removed the link needed, I'm not sure how to insert a "new" link pin. The device has a couple of extra pins, but when I load the new pin and it's "outer" cover, I cannot use the "push" device to place the new pin.....how do I do this??

I've bought a little plastic device that I can place the wrist band to that I can use the tiny driver to "push" the link pin out fo the wrist band and remove a link. I've been able to figure that out. Now I'm trying to put the new link pin back into the band. I can set thie up, but cannot fit the band with the "start" of the new pin in the device to "push" the new one into the band.....suggestions on how to do this??

I just did this for my wife's new Kenneth Cole wrist watch rather easily. You don't need a screwdriver, but a short section of a paper clip will do. I just set the band on a raise surface to allow room for the pin to be pushed out using the paper clip. For this watch, one side of the pin resembles the slotted side of a small screw - but it is not a screw. This is the side that bulges up a bit to help the pin stay in place. I believe if you punch it out from the opposite side it will fall off quickly, but if you do from the bulged side it, too, will come out but with some resistance. To reattach the band you need to punch the pin into the slot in such a way that its bulged side is on top otherwise you may end up with a bent pin. You must also first line up the hole with the paper clip before reinserting the pin. Good luck.

Take your watch to a jeweler and they should do it for you free of charge.

Wrist watch shortening

Look at the inside of the band and there will arrows pointing what direction the to tap the pins out to remove links. Put the watch on a small roll of tape or something similar that keeps the band off the surface you are working on. Gently tap the pin out with a tool that will fit in the pin hole. Remove the pin and determine the number of links to remove. Remove the links and reverse the order in which you took it apart .

I am trying to figure out how to shorten the wrist band on my Casio Edifice EFA-119.

mcdevito75 here, If your Casio has a metal band, you can remove 1--2 links, this takes a special tool called a link remover, best bet is to look for a small watch repair shop in your area. If your Casio has a strap, the buckle may be able to move up the strap to fit your wrist, if so, move the buckle up the strap to fit your wrist and cut offf the exccess strap. If not, you"ll have to replace the entire strap. Hope this helps.

Watch strap a little big

mcdevito75 here, Maybe a link or 2 can be reoved from the metal band, or an adjustment at the clasp can be done. Look for a small watch repair shop in your area, they can help.

Remove links on this watch

Most bands have removable links on the end of the band. You can tell because they have small holes on the side to remove the pins that hold them together. The links that don't have holes are not removable. This is standard on most metal bands.

Broken wrist band

The easiest is to bring it to Wal-Mart, or another store with a watch section in their store, if you buy a new wrist band, they;ll put it on for free. If you're feeling DIY, pull the watch band to the side, untill the metal bar inside is ejected form the slot in the watch, from there, insert the new band's bar into the slot, and voila!
