It is not the battery,the problem is with the 12 volts cable.Please buy a new cable and then your Garmin will charge even with the cable.

Backlight problem: Remove the display, remove the light tube from behind the LCD. Buy a led panel from Ebay for around $5 and install it behind the LCD under the drfusing layers. Run the wires out to a 12 VDC source and there you have it.

Yes, you can install Bluechart and CityNavigator onto one SD card. Inside Mapsource, select the Bluechart maps you want, then switch to CityNavigator and select the maps you want from then, and then send all at once to the GPS unit. If you send Bluechart maps, and then CityNavigator, the CityNavigator will overwrite the Bluecharts. This is why it must be done all in one step.

You would install the maps on an SD card, or microSD card, and then inside the setup of the GPS unit, you would choose which maps you want the unit to display.

please verify if firmware of your receiver is up to date.

the newest version of GPSMAP 76CSx is Ver. 3.60, realised on Feb 18, 2008

if not, make upgrade either by WebUpdater application or download it direct from www.garmin.com
