The Phone application on the BlackBerry smartphone automatically converts phone numbers that include letters into the associated numbers.
To key a phone number that contains letters, press the right
Shift key or the
Alt key and type. The letters appear on your screen, but the BlackBerry smartphone translates them into the appropriate numbers when the phone call is made.
For example, to call 1-877-BLK-BERR (1-877-255-2377) from your BlackBerry smartphone,
- Open the Phone application.
- Type 1877.
- Press and hold the Alt or right Shift key and type BLKBERR.
- Display the menu and select Call 1877BLKBERR or press Enter. When the phone number is dialed, the letters are converted to numbers on the screen.
- To end the phone call, hold down the Escape key.
To return to the Home screen from any other screen, press the End key.
To lock the device, set a password. Hold the * key.
To unlock the device, press the * key. Click Unlock. Type your password.
To lock the keyboard, hold the * key.
To unlock the keyboard, press the * key
To switch the input language, hold the Alt key and press the Enter key. Continue to hold the Alt key and select a language. Release the Alt key to switch to that language.
To switch back to your original input language, press the Alt key + the Enter key.
