It sounds like you may have only the 901 loudspeakers, and not also the companion 901 equalizer box. You must install the 901 equalizer properly--using the tape monitor loop of the G901 receiver. If you of not, the 901 loudspeakers will perform poorly.

Also make sure the speaker connections to the receiver are phased properly: (+) to (+), and (-) to (-). Failure to do that will also cause speakers to sound weak.

Hi. Sounds like the EQ is either not functioning correctly or you have made an incorrect connection. Broadly speaking the EQ will accept a normal line level signal from your amplifier (Line Out, Tape Out or Pre Out/Main In) and will change the response curve of the sound to suit the 901s. The signal is then routed back into your amplifier's power amplifier and finally to the speaker input terminals on the 901s. Be sure to choose the correct switch position on the EQ depending on how you use it. Here is a link that explains the setup clearly with diagrams. Hope this helps.,
Don.

SOURCE: How to connect old 901 Bose equilizer to amp/receiver

If you plan to use them with a home theater, you will need a seperate amplifier, as most a/v receivers don't have tape monitors. With an integrated amp hook rec out to the input on eq hook output on eq to playback on tape mon. with seperates hook pre amp out to input on eq, output on eq to power amp input.

SOURCE: trying to hook up bose 901 v to sansui 8080db is

Just remove the Pre-Out to Main In jumpers and connect the Active Equalizer there. This way it will affect only the power output to the amp and speakers but not to any of the Tape Loops. If you need more, look around on Fixya for 901 advice and you'll find about a million posts by me for many scenarios, including multi-channel.

Bose 901 equalizer connect to Lafayette 3500 receiver using bose 901 speakers

The Bose 901 speakers require the use of a specific equalizer that is designed to optimize their performance. If you have a Bose 901 equalizer, you will need to connect it to your Lafayette 3500 receiver in order to properly use the speakers.
Here are the general steps for connecting the Bose 901 equalizer to your Lafayette 3500 receiver:
  1. First, ensure that the power is turned off on both the receiver and the equalizer.
  2. Locate the preamp output jacks on your Lafayette 3500 receiver. These will typically be labeled as "pre out" or "line out".
  3. Connect a pair of RCA cables from the preamp output jacks on your receiver to the input jacks on your Bose 901 equalizer. These jacks are typically labeled as "preamp in" or "line in".
  4. Next, connect another pair of RCA cables from the output jacks on your Bose 901 equalizer to the main amplifier input jacks on your receiver. These jacks are typically labeled as "main in".
  5. Turn on your receiver and equalizer, and ensure that the volume levels are set to a low level before playing any music.
  6. Set the Bose 901 equalizer to the "On" position, and adjust the various equalizer controls to your preferred settings.
  7. Finally, play some music and adjust the volume levels as needed. You should notice a significant improvement in the sound quality of your Bose 901 speakers with the equalizer properly connected.
Note: It's important to use the Bose 901 equalizer specifically designed for the speakers. Using a different equalizer or not using any equalizer at all may result in poor sound quality or damage to the speakers.

I just connected two sets of 901'a to Sansui G901 receiver. The sound is TINNY no bass at all. I've tried different connections and nothing seems to work. I've used two different EQ from bosse series

Either there is NO bass on the recordings (if you listen to it with headphones does it have bass?) ...OR...you've wired them out of phase. Connect only one(1) Bose 901's to just one side. Is there bass? Then connect the other side. IS there bass? If not reverse the phase (+ /- connections) and see if the bass comes back. Once that is done and there is BASS, then add the 3rd and then the 4th speaker. .Are you sure your Sansui can handle a lower than 4 ohm load???

see the diagram attached, you can have wrong connection. However clean the contacts and test the wires.God bless you
he speakers are not connected properly. Check the speaker connections. The sound level on the rear or center speakers is turned down. Adjust the sound levels. The receiver is not in the proper surround mode. Set the receiver to a surround mode. The speaker settings are incorrect. Check the settings as per the user's manual.41a9b9c6-64e2-4745-adf3-95fdac1fe686.jpgba7a1620-dfc0-4e45-8fea-6237135735f9.jpeg

Hi -

Sony CD player Red / White RCA - > CD input RCAs on the Arcam.

From the Arcam Preamp Output RCA's, go to the Bose "Input". From the Bose "Output", you need RCA splitters to make them into four outputs to run your amplifier connections.clmrt5000_2.jpgclmrt5000_3.jpg
