The hard drive, motherboard, or some other critical component may be failing, or just the OS or hard drive corrupted. If you have files that you do not want to lose, you could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a "USB Hard Drive Adapter" (available fairly cheap online) to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive. That way, at least you may not lose your files.
Then, you could try to do a Factory Restore or Reload on the computer, and if that works, copy your personal files back to your newly restored computer. Good luck.

SOURCE: the OPTIPLEX 755 will not start

Open the case and look at the little black round things that look like soda cans. Those are called Capacitors. they are kinda like small batteries. They should have a shiny silver top. If they have anything oozing out or if they look like theyve popped like a popcorn kernel, then you have a faulty board. If your pc is under warranty, call dell asap. its an easy repair and its done the next day.

Why does my desktop DELL Optiplex 1700L just flash YELLOW and refuse to come on, motherboard light is on

An Amber (Yellow) blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

I have no power but i do have an amber light on the motherboard. there is nothing else on. It's a solid light, not blinking. what do I do?

New mother board. The power section of that board probably has some capacitors that look swollen or leaking a brown substance.

Optiplex 755 blinking amber light, simple solution, I'm no IT professional.

If the power light is blinking amber, the computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem might exist.A power supply or system board failure has occurred. Try to isolate the problem by removing or disconnecting all cards, i.e. video, sound cards and disconnecting CD/DVD and hard drives.

Optiplex 755 showing orange colour light on power button.. how can i fix this problem

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. I have dell optiplex 755 desktop with lcd monitor.everything is all right but monitor starts for 2 seconds and then turns off help me to solve this problen

If is possible we need to establish if the monitor is defective or not. Please connect to a different monitor/LCD TVscreen or just unplug the monitors data cable from the back of the computer powered it up and check if is giving you a message on the screen as "No signal detected". It will tell you that the monitor is fine and is a problem with your Dell computer.
