The solution for your problem is to have the laptop sent (or taken) to a Toshiba Service Center to have the password reset or erased. You may have to show proof of ownership and you will certainly have to pay for the service if the computer is out of warranty. Desoldering the CMOS battery or any other component in all likelihood voids any warranty.
The Cmos battery is a rechargeable soldered to the board component. Removing it is a skilled job and may damage the motherboard! There is a link "*500" underneath the RAM. Link it out, whilst there is no power on the laptop! with a conductine small item like a small screwdriver or tweezwers. BE CAREFUL!!!!! Re boot the laptop.
That information is kept on the motherboard Bios.
Look for the 'System' or 'Bios' configuration prompt at startup (usually 'Delete', F2 or F12 buttons) and the time setting is usually on the first page.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you need a new motherboard battery which is the size and shape of a large coin. It will actually be on the motherboard somewhere, which means opening the machine up, sorry.
The ONLY WAY is to contact Toshiba Support. They can then instruct you how and what to do. The Newer Laptops Do Not Have The CMOS Battery like before. It is now part of the motherboard and cannot be removed. Hope I helped you.. Please rate me, k? Thank You.. lucky4lynn2 :)
