My Kenmore Elite water softner won't allow me to adjust salt level anymore. I filled up to level 7, then tried to add salt level nothing happen. I tried to push the minus sign to see if it works, nothing. What should i do? Now i have flashing light indicates low salt level eventhough the tank is full.
Check the float in the tank that indicates the water level to the sensor. They often fail to float, solution is to either replace the tank or jam something plastic under the float to lift it to the top of its slot.
THANK YOU. You're answer was so helpful. I have the XP7230 and all of the sudden had exact same problem, machine wouldn't not register a full tank. After reading this I checked the floating piece and saw that it was not floating with a full tank like it is supposed to. Had to obstruct it to keep it afloat as well, and voila, it worked.
Ahh... what a relief to have my machine working again. Coffee has never tasted so good.
The magnetic float in the tank that is supposed to detect the water level is probably not floating. Normally 2 fixes for this, jam something plastic under it and check the level with your eyes or buy a new tank.
This should be a relatively simple solution.
1. Ensure that water is in the tank and filled to the top.
2. Raise the lid of the machine with the silver handle and insert a K Cup or just raise and close for hot water.
3. Blue light should now be flashing to indicate the machine is ready for use.
A quick test to split up your possible trouble makers: Let the washing machine fill with water and when the washer is about 1/2 full of water unplug the washers power cord from the wall outlet. If the water keeps flowing into the washing machine with the power cord pulled the fill valve ( where the hot and cold hoses are attached to your washer ) has mechanically stuck open and will have to be replaced. If the water shuts off when you remove it's power cord from the wall outlet, try plugging the washer in and out a couple more times and if the water stops each time the fill valve indicates as being good = on to the next trouble makers. The water level control is responsible for shutting off the power to the fill valve and redirects the power to the timer to start the washing machine running once the correct water level has occurred. The WLC itself could be bad. The WLC uses a hose that the water level pushes air into to tell the WLC what the water level is inside the washing machine...the hose could be pinched, fallen off of the tub spout, has a pin hole, clogged up with calcium or soap curd and the WLC cannot "sense" or "tell" what is happening inside the washer.

If the icemaker has a bail wire to control how much ice is in the bin, there is a fill switch inside the front cover of the ice maker which allows you to increase or decrease the amount of fill.
You may also have a cracked or corroded ice mold. Check by filling the icemaker with water manually, and watching to see if it drips once the initial overfill stops dripping. This would also be indicated by the ice cubes being smaller than usual.
On the ice maker you will see a little screw with a + or - printing check carefully on the side just turn it on the way of + it will increase the water time so you will have bigger icecube. hope i was helpful!
