Ive installed x1650 pro into my machine which previously ran ut and cod etc with a nvdia 660gt with no problems. with this card machine runs perfectly as before. i installed the new ut demo and cod 4 demo, i get the message ut/cod4 demo exe has encountered a problem and needs to close when trying to start either. To further compound the problem a fresh install of the xp plus package wont run either, monitor keeps doing the clicking thing, going black and from what can be seen of the desktop, resolutions seem to change between clicks. Tried varying driver packages and the catalyst center reports no problems.card is running full 8xagp speed. Card happily powers call of duty one and 2 etc.Further, an older machine fitted with the nvdia card runs all three without a glich.Am i missing something here? Really dont want to have to resort to the hammer... HELP!

Re: hopefull plea before i go mad
Sounds like a driver problem to me. I recommend removing all video drivers from the computer, restart the computer, then install the newest catalyst drivers. The error saying that the exe has encountered a problem and needs to close may not be fixed by this. I would recommend re downloading them or getting a new copy from some where else.

When you say it stops working, does it just go blank after it loads the cinematic? I had an 8600GT with similar specs to your X1650 and it used to go black with Black Ops after the cinematic and stay like that. After I got a new card it worked 100% fine. There is a large possibility that your X1650 is a little out-of-date for perfect Black Ops play.
first thing first ensure that you have the latest ATI radeon X1600 pro driver and software installed else you won't be able to get the desired options for dual display under settings coz it will be working with generic drivers. To download the latest driver and software click here
For this card they recomment at leat a power supply rating of 450 watts. If you have lower than this then I would suggest upgrading the power supply. A 550 watt psu is reasonably priced and should give you plenty of power for future use. Hope this helps.
Maybe this post is a bit old, but on last deceber I bought an AGP 512MB ATI Radeon X1650 PRO for my Foxconn motherboard and I must say that it's simply awesome!
I can play most games on mid-high settings on reasonable resolutions (most on 1024x768) with good FPS (except with Crysis... but let's face it, did Crytek bought a time machine to warp a 2010 game??).
So, if you already have it, then congratulations, and if you still are thinking on buying it, then what are you waiting for!?
Also, it's AGP x8, if your motherboard support x8, then it should run perfectly fine.
Also, I have a bit of problems trying to run Prey on the X1650...
It always appears an error... it's not of much importance, as I have much better games, but I haven't tried it with high fancy graphics... :P
