what are you using on the HDMI cable. you may need to change the setting on that and not the tv. or you have the tv stuck in Zoom. if it is stuck in Zoom you will need to rest the tv back to factory setting.
push minue directly on tv and seif that works. try to see if you can get it out of that mode. you might need the origanal remote. try search on the remote control may work
check zoom on either your tv remote or direct tv remote. someone has hit the zoom button . Its can be called zoom, picture, picture size. You want to get it back to normal. this can be done by hitting one of those buttons repeatedly until you see normal come up.
if you are using a cable box you must go to settings on your cable box and zoom out there is an option not sure where its located on which cable box your using . If the tv is hooked directly to the cable outlet itself its a menu option on your tv there is a zoom option and some remotes also have a zoom botton.
try this, locate the slide switch, top middle of remote. slide to indicator marked TV. locate format button upper left second one down, try this button, it is the one that is most often associated with the screen aspects such as zoom , cinema, wide normal, etc. if it does not work in tv mode switch back dtv mode (slide all the way to the left) and try format again. if this does not fix your problem please re post
Your TV resolution is not set to the proper screen size for viewing it properly and it probably cuts off your tv shows too and you just don't see it. Press the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the remote. The option available to remove the horizontal bars is Zoom.
If the image on screen is zoomed both in vertical and horizontal direction, your TVs power regulator inside it is faulty. [Overvoltage]. If it is zoomed in vertical direction only, that is only the height of the picture is zoomed, you can adjust it with the remote control button directly on going through menu and get in to the function menu. Normally all TV remote has a special button marked as "Zoom" which on pressing it once the picture get zoomed, again another press the picture gets wide and again an another press picture will come to normal mode. You should select normal mode to retify the problem.
You need your original TV remote, the Direct TV remote has very limited function, mostly for turning TV on/off, volume control, may be source selection.
